Tornado watch until 10

Weather nerds cream themselves over it. Meanwhile, it's like 70 and cloudy in Wheeling.

The Sargassum seaweed is just eating up beaches. Can’t go in the water and can’t sit on the beach either because it’s everywhere.

It takes a real stupid son of a bitch to stop their vehicle in the MIDDLE of an expressway with traffic still moving. If you are concerned about the storm then safely move your vehicle towards the shoulder.

Caller Bob uses the ignore function about as well as Seacrest :D

Hopefully you drive directly into a tornado should you face the same situation.

Our survey teams across northern Illinois have confirmed 7 tornadoes took place yesterday across our forecast area. We still have survey teams still in the field. The rest of the details on path, length, and width for all will be provided across all of our social media platforms as data is collected and analyzed. #ILwx

We have confirmed four additional tornadoes from Wednesday (bringing our total up to 11 now):
-EF-0 from Carol Stream to Glendale Heights
-EF-0 from Itasca to O'Hare Airport
-EF-0 from O'Hare Airport to the southeast side of Des Plaines
-EF-0 in Streamwood (with strong straight-line winds of up to 75 mph occurring in Hanover Park immediately after this tornado lifted)
More information on these tornadoes (and the others that we have confirmed) will be made available at a later time as we continue our post-event analysis. Thank you for your continued patience.

From today's Trib article discussing Death Valley potentially hitting a new record of 130F...but not really:

The highest temperature reliably recorded on Earth is 129.2F (54C) in Death Valley in 2013. A century earlier a high temperature in Death Valley reportedly reached 134F but many modern weather experts have rejected that claim along with other high summer temperatures reported in the region that year.

Of course those records are being rejected (by some)...they don't fit the narrative.

They love to push their narrative of it all of a sudden, being hotter than normal. I recall the Summer of 1995 where the heat wave was so bad they had to bring in refrigerated semi's to store the dead bodies. But remember, this heat is a NEW phenomenon.

Or your roof.
Or your living room/bedroom/car as a tree limb crashes through your window. 70-80mph sustained wind is more than enough to knock down limbs that can cause serious damage when they fall.

BTW, officially 13 tornadoes from last week Wednesday. 72 this year which is a record number thru mid-July for the NWS Chicago forecast area.

UP to 75 mph winds. Not sustained. I still have not seen a tornado personally in my life. I have seen plenty of rotating clouds. The whirling dervish over the tri-state DOES NOT COUNT. The Campton Hills one was legit. Pregnant rotating clouds DOES NOT COUNT.

That 'whirling dervish' over the Tri State threw a tree limb through the roof of a kid's bedroom in Cicero, blew a dump over on its side in McCook, and left 4 homes in Countryside uninhabitable. Sure, not widespread damage and luckily few injuries, but you wouldn't saying such foolishness if it were your home that suffered damage. https://apnews.com/article/chicago-torn ... 1a09837674
https://abc7chicago.com/illinois-tornad ... /13497135/

"I didn't see these, they don't count," is a wonderfully stupid attitude to have towards such storms.
