Appreciate this, W_Z.

I just decided who my favorite character in any film or television series is. (She's probably my favorite character in any book, with one or two exceptions, too.)

Who is yours? Who's the best character you've ever seen in a film or series? I'd be interested in hearing.

WZ,

Were you a fan of the Trailer Park Boys, and if so, which season is your favorite?

I didn't like the cartoon as much; the humor was a little more gross than the original seven seasons. (I didn't see the later seasons.)

I loved both of those shows.

I got my son into Trailer Park Boys and he got the whole floor of his dorm hooked

Honestly, it can take a little investment for some people before they become fans. Like, I just never watched The IT Crowd or The Mighty Boosh consistently enough to become a fan, though I generally liked what I saw.

"The IT Crowd" is solid, but it went completely off the rails by the end. If you're going to watch it, you'd be wise to jump off before the last couple of seasons.

I went to The Trailer Park Boys live show in Chicago a few years ago. I even hung out with the boys after the show. Had a long talk with Julien.

I've watched the IT Crowd twice all the way through. My only regret is that there aren't more episodes. Easily one of the best comedy shows I've ever seen.

The Peep Show is also amazing and has a similar feel to it.

don't listen to this nonsense. Show was great start to finish. Picked up in season 2 when Matt Berry joined the cast as the new boss.

I agree. I never found a letdown in the quality and short British seasons don't burn out a concept as quickly as they do in the US

It was always on the goofy side, but it became completely unmoored from reality by the end. If you like stuff that's really over the top absurd, you'll like it. If you don't, it's probably not for you.

Wharton Zach,

Remember the chick who played Randy in Airplane? Man, she was really hot. In the movie, she didn't have a husband, but I don't know if she was single in real life, too.

Anyway, what's your favorite English-language series that does not feature Ice-T?

He was great in Breakin'. I really connected with his raps, like this one:

Hip-Hopping is a way of life,
With graffiti and rapping on the mic
As the record scratches to the break of beat
The Hip-Hop was sound of the street!
The Hip-Hopping, being around a while
With the serious funk, that people style
A record scratches, a simple rap
A breaker spinning on his back.

you're like my mom. When we were up at the lake house she was always complaining about the amount of skunks that must be in the area. We'd all try not to laugh.

Z, my wife says that the unsolved mysteries theme song is derivative of the Halloween theme. What do you think?

it's similar but i doubt carpenter would've had a successful lawsuit like Huey Lewis did with "Ghostbusters".

it drives my wife nuts. she hates that theme. although she's tolerant of the newer version, which is pretty cool. a lot more understated.
