Jay Mohr had Barry Katz (showbiz Yoda) on monday. Great episode!

"Ya gotta be undeniable, man"

Carolla had David Lee Roth last week, also very good.

Barry Katz was great. Nothing really new advice wise, but the stories. The Dennis Leary two if by sea story is great.

The John Moore one is good too. He produces the comedy central roasts. Good insider stuff.

Marc Maron had a few I enjoyed recently: Michael Keaton, Mel Brooks, and Carl Reiner. Joe Rogan had Dan Carlin from Hardcore History on. It was rather amusing to hear Rogan, who sounds quasi-intelligent when it's his usual crew of shaved apes (Redban, Shaffir, etc), come across like a wowed simpleton viewing a medicine show when discussing actual facts and real events with Carlin. Mohr is okay. Like Maron it depends on the guest.

Maron's Mel Brooks interview was ok. Nothing earth shattering. Just a couple of funny jews jewing it up for a podcast

Carolla went HAM on the LT Governor Gavin Newsome. Definitely worth a listen. Then he went even crazier after the Huffington Post took spun the interview to show him as racist.

A case could be made that he is racist, but not here.

The LG brought up high numbers of blacks and latinos on welfare. Newsome specifically said "blacks and latinos" so Carolla asked him whats wrong in those communties that they have such high numbers.

Huff Post headline: Carolla to Newsome: "What's wrong with blacks and mexicans?"

Dat's exactly right.

There are plenty of other things that Carolla says that could make one consider the possibility that he has somewhat racist views from time to time. In this instance, the Lt. Govorner was ill prepared to have a discussion that he brought up in the first place.

Hell, I could have defended his position better than he did. My guess is that he didn't want to offend anyone in which case he shouldn't have brought up the issue in the first place...

I listened to the first 5 mins of the interview and turned it off because I was annoyed by Newsome's non answers, but then I heard Carolla's reaction the next day and had to go back.

Even for a politician, that guy was giving exceptionally bankrupt answers.

"There are a lot of factors that go into it..."

And yes, he wanted to get in a plug for those two communities without discussing them. Wrong show for that.

I like how Newsome kept acting like "Hey man I agree with you, Im on your side"

What a dick.

There are definately factors (both internaly and externaly) that cause issues in both communities, but the explanation involves some finger pointing and understainding of history. Two things it appears Newsome wanted no part of.

I'm gonna order myself some of that Mangia, btw.

The constant advertisement has worked on me like a charm...

Carolla certainly would be called racist by some. But I think its more a product of him speaking the truth without having to apologize.

Also, truth combined with the ability to write it off as comedy is a recipe for some very racist sounding talk.

I like when Newsome was trying to make the case that many Jews are struggling. I mean, they probably are, but I doubt he believes it.

Thrilling news from Robert Feder for Milt Nation. And if I know Dr. Rosenberg - and I'd like to think that I do - there will be a metric shit ton of cursing and rebald jocularity in this new manifestation:

When the programming geniuses at news/talk WGN-AM (720) pulled the plug on Extension 720 host Milt Rosenberg after 39 years last December, he made it clear he wasn’t happy about it. "I'm on the older side, obviously, but I'm still full of piss and vinegar," the 87-year-old Rosenberg told me at the time. Now the former University of Chicago professor is making a comeback. Starting early next month, he is expected to host an independent podcast featuring brand-new interviews with noted authors, scholars, artists and political figures, among others. Taped at a downtown studio, shows will be posted by 7pm five nights a week. Listeners will be able to download them for free and play them back anytime. Executive producer of Rosenberg’s new venture is Zack Christenson, who served as his Extension 720 producer from 2007 to 2010. Fans can sign up for email updates at: miltrosenberg.com.

Maron's interview with Lynn Shawcroft, Mitch Hedberg's widow, was great. Pretty much talked to whole time about Mitch. I guess the moral of the story is that I miss Mitch Hedberg.

Mel Brooks wasn't anything special...until the story Maron tell as tthe end. The Reiner one was more interesting, I thought. The Mohr Stories from today with Jen Murphy was incredibly awkward. That girl has some issues and it was uncomfortable.

Not afraid to say that Maron is 10x the interviewer than he is a comedian.

Is that the chick who said she's gonna have a kid so she has someone to talk to?

Im probably biased because he really was kind of a dick to My guy Jay Mohr but I feel the opposite.

His interviewing style is basically to try and compare all his psychoses to his guests and find matches.

Ive only listened to probably 8-10 shows though
