This is a story of an asshole I went to high school with. He was the ringleader of the Buffalo Grove hazing incidents with the cheerleading team back in the fall of 96. It was a thing.

Grrrr I'm so conflicted with this because on one hand this is the red meat that the idiots over at r/MensRights gleefully eat up but on the other hand, as far as I know, male sex offenders who diddle minors get put a lifetime sex offender list. I don't see why it should be any different for her (or why it has to be a lifetime list).

Its the power thing. The male (17?) was probably equally aggressive in pursuing this teacher as she was him if not more. When you flip it the other way the male adult is usually preying on the underage student.

Its the same on paper but in reality its just not.

I get what you're saying. But it's far more complicated than it seems. We're conditioned to think that a male teacher that preys a on female pupil is more inherently icky than the reverse. That we're conditioned to view males as more predatory and women as more chaste only confuses the issue further because young women can be just as desirous for sex as young men, but they have been shamed into thinking that shouldn't be the case. I would argue that older men are more capable in taking advantage of younger women because of this dynamic. That is, we are more offended by a man sexually abusing a woman because that woman has been "ruined", her chastity forever compromised, but we are not as offended when a woman sexually abuses a man because men are expected to be desirous for sex at all times, and often regardless of circumstance.

Another aspect is that for a woman to strongly desire a teenage boy is so incongruous as to almost be pitied, whereas a older man desiring a teenage girl is just taking what's "normal" too far and deserving of no pity at all.

And that's what gets me because the people in r/MensRights seem to view women in the same way a radical feminist views men. That is, where a radical feminist would view all men as predatory sex fiends so too would a radical Men's RIghts activist view all women as predatory creatures (albeit for different purposes).

I guess what I'm trying to say is why should a man be forced to register as sex offender for the rest of his life while this woman doesn't have to?
