Anyone have any experience with live traps? Found a bunch of mouse droppings in my garage. Not worth the fight with my GF to kill them, so going the live trap route. Anyone have a recommendation? Looked online and found both good and bad reviews for most.

The glue traps catch the rodents and you don't have to deal with the bloody mess a regular trap causes. If you don't have pets, try some rat poison.

We have pets. But I'm only finding droppings in the garage. Nothing in the house, which is odd.

Glue wont work when its cold out, assuming the garage is cold and not heated.

Have zero experience with live traps. But after you take care of the problem, use some peppermint oil in a little dish in the spots where you see they have been. YMMV buy it has worked for us.

I'm praying I don't have any mice. The other night, I left the garage up overnight by accident. The next morning, I noticed a bag that looked like it could have been ripped into by a mouse, but did not see anything else. May get a few glue boards just to be sure. I'm extra concerned because this is my first apt that's pretty much ground level.

Never became a bigger fan of alley cats until I moved over there. :D

:?: If the GF wants to catch and release, then tell her it's her problem (hint: They will just keep coming back). Otherwise get some old fashioned traps and d-CON.

Had some rats at an old place and kinda got into the hunt of them, knowing where the walk and when, essentially they and mice, dont see very well, so rely upon whiskers to guide them, thus always running along the edge of walls.

1 rat trap place in that path and bam!

did it over the summer at a friends place, in their backyard. When is showed them the bottom of the fence and they could see the oil from so many of them, just put the traps there. First night they did it , they got 3....I think they ended up with close to 20 over a 2 week period.

$1.99 for the old fashioned trap is a great investment.

Yeah, I said that, but I know she would freak out if she had to do that.

I bought a couple live traps from Home Depot. If I don't catch anything in a couple days, I'm going the lethal route.

I have used Woodstream live trap and caught a bunch. Baited with peanut butter is the key.

You have to find and seal their entry point as well.

Some of those little buggers can squeeze through a hole the size of a dime.

I sprayed a bit of that foam seal in my garage after finding a couple of spots and it worked good.

Agreed about the peanut butter bait - it's like crack to mice.

No mice in the traps after one night. The peanut butter was untouched as well. If I don't have any mice in these after three days, I'm going the lethal route!

Here is a tip: Even if you never see a mouse again in your life, you must always keep the traps out.
It's not hurting anything to be safe.

I think that rifle season for rats and mice opens in Illinois this weekend.
I'm not 100% certain so you should double-check with Baby McNown to be sure.

You could rent one of Frank's cats if bigfan ever restores his use of this site.

I had a mouse in my building. My mom was working for me. She said if I killed it she would quit. One day I went in her office after she had gone home for the day and I found that she had left crackers out for the mouse. Eventually, I cornered it near the back door and swept it outside with a broom.

agree with peanut butter on the traps... maybe buy the catch and release trap but buy death traps and hide them well so she doesnt see them... lucky you arent dealing with City rats the size of your shoes...

Night 1: trap 1 contained zero. Trap two contained 3!

You should spray paint them to see if you keep catching same ones.
