Do you have one? Would you buy one? I'm seeing a lot of people posting them on Facebook. I couldn't imagine spending $1200+ on a coat.

I think they are guaranteed for life and they are suppose to be great coats. The look a too little shiny for me. I don't think I could get that past accounting either.

I'm always in search of the warmest coat.

I'd never heard of them. But I'm not shocked by the prices. Earlier this year my son told me how much his classmates were willing to pay ($400-500) for a belt. I'd never consider it, but unfortunately (or not) I'm no longer a member of that target market.

But, I was once a young man, single with no children and on the fast track. I remember once considering saving to buy a "proper" overcoat that was only a bit less expensive. I forget  just how much I used to spend in my early to mid 20's at the Syd Jerome Semi Annual sales. In fairness, those well made suits lasted for years. (Not that it was a concern at the time) Part of me misses those happy, somewhat irresponsible days...

So I can't throw stones. Besides, I don't really like the look either.

I wasted a lot of money too but it doesn't look worth it. Now my daughters rape me and I know it will only get worse. Justice is their favorite store. Cheap overpriced clothes.

You can go outside naked with the coveralls.

I have CARTHART sweatshirt given to me as a holiday gift from an architect. I have worn it about 3 times and it just cooks me! Wore it to go tubing last year, at night it was 15 degrees and had to take this thing off after 10 minutes.

And I have a 14 yr old who is hanging onto a pair his older brother "traded" for like grim death. The older boy figured it out pretty quickly though & now wears Levis. Now I'm just hoping I can ride a similar short wave with Knucklehead 2.0.

I'm still wearing the same $40 Army field jacket I bought at Champign Surplus in 1986. Best. Coat. Ever.

I'm a real fashion plate.

My really old (20 lb) leather bomber jacket & old style navy pea coat won't disagree with you.

That's back in. Hope no bullet holes or blood. $40 was a good chunk of change in 86, no?

A buddy who worked for Peoples Gas years ago put me onto them. At the time I wasn't a fan, I reconsidered his advice (& experience) and went right out to get one of the warmest jackets I've ever had.

It was but then Reason hit it big during the Yukon gold rush.

I don't see a down one on their site, only on amazon. What one would work?

It was a new one. Back then, $40 would get you a great coat or a lid of good weed. The coat was a better buy. The weed was more fun, however.

What's a lid?

There used to be a store called lids. I think it sold baseball hats. There were usually some cute guys in there.

It's old guy slang for an ounce.

Really? That must be why every single person working outside this time of year is wearing one... I've still got the first pair of Carhartt coveralls I bought in 85- not worn out, just seems they shrunk severely around the middle.

I prefer the Carhartt Extremes, I've got the bibs in black and the active jacket in brown. Waterproof, windproof, and warm enough for any weather we have around here. I wear the bibs snowmobiling, and they get too warm at times.

I wear a bubble coat I got from K-Mart or Value City about 8 years ago for 25 bucks. Keeps the cold out. I was thinking of getting a carhartt jacket this winter though.

I have a coat I got ten years ago that is great. It is a Woolrich. I would say it is in the vein of a field jacket some sort of tan cloth that looks a little like suede. The zip out liner is sort of like a wool carpet. Warm and durable without the Carhart workman casual look. Can't appear as a savage ya know.

I bought a Perry Ellis bubble coat in 1997. Bright Red. Probably looked like an idiot.
