This was a bar conversation some of my buddies and I were having last night. One idea was that instead of a shootout in hockey, play til somebody scores but as play continues the rink just gets smaller and smaller until its about a 15' x 15' area. Slowly melting the ice was also suggested.

At the end of OT in football, you have to run the offense with a non-quarterback taking the snaps.

Another was that there are randomly moving obstacles behind the fences in baseball that keep home runs from leaving the park. Kind of like a windmill in mini golf.

So what would some of your crazy and downright stupid ideas for 'improving' sports be?

Cotton uniforms in baseball.

It's a natural fiber.

For the Pro Bowl, just have a bunch of stupid crap that awards 1-3 points. For example, hang some hula hoops from the rafters and if a pass is completed through one of the hoops, an instant point. Draw some squares or circles on the field -- catch a pass in there, you score a point. Do a running play where you go within three of the circles, you get three points. Incomplete pass off the upright scores a point. Like MTV used to do with basketball.

I've always wondered what would happen if pro teams could only have players who grew up from a 200 mile radius from the stadium. The Patriots would be absolutely horrible.

The Bulls would be elite. The Bears would suck. The NHL might as well leave Chicago. Baseball might as well leave America all together. Cuba would win the 2015 World Series as Elmhurst Steve predicted!

So dumb, not even funny, but to be expected.

Thread should probably be named "Dumb, Sports ideas...."

In that regard, what if players were treated like "stock" and people could buy & sell stock in a player....and the player would benefit / lose $$ based on their stock price. OK...maybe this thread should be named "Stupid, sports ideas...."

I wouldn't mind seeing a 4-point or 5-point shot from half court.

So you wouldn't want to see Busch Stadium turned into a minigolf course?

Brewers Barrleman, HOTELS.COM, Geek Bar, Fred Wilpon, Urlacher's Book, Currency Trading (really? ) ....all just riveting threads started by you over the last 48 hours.

"So dumb, but to be expected" might as well just become your signature on this site.

Just love that everyone just shit on you in this thread for being a topic beyond dumb, but you feel the need to respond to me. I guess I rented the penthouse to the basement.

You need to re-read this thread. RFDC & apologist made one comment, and that was it. Another reply in the mile long list of of yours that are truly "So dumb, but to be expected."

This is nowhere near the dumbest thread ever. Not even in the team photo.

I clicked on this thread hoping to find some interesting ideas. I was disappointed. That said, certainly not the dumbest thread.....Ike is setting a new low with each post.
