My MIL checked herself into rehab last week, and my wife has been running herself ragged since doing 99% of everything. Outside of about 4 hours where her brother watched her mom's dog yesterday, she literally has gotten no help from ANYONE in her family. I think it's pretty typical for guys to lean on the women in their families to handle stuff in situations like that. My brothers-in-law all have big ideas and opinions but when it comes to actually handling stuff, it's my wife and her sisters that have to do it. My mom used to like to say, "Your son is your son until he takes a wife, your daughter is your daughter for life."
