Honestly, the only time I've ever gotten pissed during open play with kids or whatever was when I was next to a group of high school kids who decided the best thing they could do was run up behind me while bowling and try to slap my bowling ball while I was in my back swing...and of course they were successful, and of course I did a nose dive onto the lane...

Admittedly, there were a lot of things said, and there was a reference to at least one of the parents as being a brain-dead Stepford whore (this was Vernon Hills, after all)...but yeah, that kind of shit isn't a bowling etiquette thing...that's a common decency thing.

While bowling a few years back I'm actually rolling a good game (for me). No open frames thru 4 and I was working on 2 straight strikes. Lining up for the 5th. As I'm standing on the line and just getting moving some 20ish drunk asshole next to us runs up grabs a 8 lb ball and like shot put this thing... I stopped my delivery and watched his shot bounce a few feet down his lane, bounce into my lane and take out my 7 pin. He and his crew thought this was hilarious. I wanted to delete his face.

If you're walking an 80lb beast around, it likely isn't going to happen.


If you're truly a regular at a house and you want to roll a few games to really practice, than you should know when the slow(er) times are and show up then. I am reasonably sure they would give you a lane that is relatively far away from everything else that is going on so as not to be disturbed.

I've noticed that most do...I've had counter people I know apologize for putting me next to kids or whatever, and I always tell them it doesn't bother me...when it's been families with younger kids, I try to encourage them as well...little things.
