It’s a family drama. Watching a guy intimate he jacks off to horses does nothing to advance the plot of, say, the kid who:

- was kidnapped by white supremacists
- was attacked by a snake
- almost drowned in a river
- killed a clown in his kitchen

…all in the course of like 3 months in show-time.

Steve 'The Drunk' in Deadwood? He claims he never signed the board.

Based on some of the scenes this season, I’m surprised the horse’s orgasm wasn’t given the slow mo treatment.

You could convince me the whole series is a long con by the weird rodeo guy/producer trying to incept the audience into accepting man-horse relations.

Getting tired of having the 1883 stuff shoved down my face every Yellowstone episode now. I get it. It's their new big thing...I will try that series IN DUE TIME.

So I finally found the Paramount network on DTV. Just in time too. They are running a Yellowstone marathon starting 12/30. Looks like all of season 1 and 2 back to back. Didn't see season 3 in there, but it's available ondemand.

Nah this season just sucked. If the first season was this bad there’s no chance I would’ve made it past a few episodes

Yeah it wasn't that good.

Nothing really ended up meaning anything.

Oh well.

I enjoyed the first couple episodes, but it got worse as the season went on. Hopefully they get their shit together for next season

felt like a reset button; very middle of the road at the least. not sure if it ended up that way because of trying to tie in two new shows, or what. But yeah that was a strange uneventful season

Beth's character became very tedious this season.

She annoys the shit out of me.

Also, a bit spoilerish…

Her whole leverage bit with Jamie makes zero sense, as to actually have that leverage she’d have to be willing to destroy her family, which we’re told repeatedly that she’d never do. It’s her only character trait aside from being a complete bitch.

I think she was willing to kill Jamie and Dad then go to jail for her family. That was her real reason for interest in Congo gal visits

I'd never watched this show until tonight. Her character had me ready to ptfb 10 minutes in.

I don’t blame you. I may be on an island here but I don’t think she’s attractive enough to make up for an awful, awful personality.

She's an obnoxious, overbearing drunk with insane daddy issues.

Makes sense that she's a role model for MANY women.

The weird thing, though, is that the show gives so much weight to her perception of reality when she is both morally bankrupt and a member of the financial class that the show identifies as the greatest threat to American identity and environmental sustainability.

watched the very first episode. had no idea what this was about. Thought it was a western, but didn't realize it takes place in modern times and is more of a family soap opera show than a western.

They basically ripped off The Godfather. One kid is a lawyer. One kid is gung ho about the business but is a little too rough. Then there's a daughter. And then the youngest wants nothing to do with the family business. Sound familiar?

First ep was pretty good, I'll keep watching.

And the squaw married to the youngest son is way too hot to be living in a trailer on a rez.

It is a very interesting show despite its flaws. On one level, it is an updating of American frontier mythology within the context of financial capitalist hegemony. On another level, it is also a kind of Trumpian (faux) populist rewriting of contemporary political conflict in which local elites become increasingly sympathetic figures as they lose power to the ascendant globalists. The show is also implicitly concerned with the fluidity of gender roles as a result of intensifying financialization and the final destruction of what it perceives (oddly enough) as the last remnants of the frontier--the Dutton Yellowstone Ranch.
