Jon Snow kills the Night King. Arya kills Dany wearing the face of Grey Worm. Jon Snow is King. Arya flees. Bran goes to live in a tree.

Rick, the season sucked. It's almost a universal truth. Almost all the plot development that happened the past seven years was thrown out the window when making this season. It's objectively a shoddy piece of art on the part of the writers.

2013 CSFMB ROY

It wasn't as good as other seasons but it didn't suck.

If this season sucked then this show wasn't good since the Red Wedding.

Season 6 was great.

All the book purists are annoying as fuck, but season 8 did fall off a cliff.

You can do the same nitpicking for every season since the Red Wedding. That's not to say there aren't valid complaints about this season but people are mad a war at night was too dark and that too many main characters lived.

No they're not - you appear to be using the posts of preteens to generalize what you think people are critiquing about the season. Better examples including the writers bizarrely wasting multiple seasons of building up a deeper significance of the army of the undead (including their unique symbol that appeared to communicate something) only to kill them off with no closure, abandoning the plot of Cersei's pregnancy, presumably because they had no time to figure out how to expand on it, which is just lazy and embarrassing, and similarly totally botching Bran's multi-season evolution into the Three-Eyed Raven. That's just wasted potential right there - he could have done so much more this season using his powers, but instead he played no major role whatsoever, so it's unclear just what all that character development was meant for when looking at how he was actually deployed this season. Season eight is like a final paper that concludes something entirely different than what its well-developed arguments in the middle of the paper suggest - there's no connection.

2013 CSFMB ROY

Yeah, in a way this was worse than the ending of the first True Detective. What was the point of the undead in this story at all? It really just wasted time and distracted from the meat of the story which is Westerosi politics.

It's sort of like if Paulie and Chris had seen the New Jersey Devil in the Pine Barrens and David Chase had spent six seasons on a storyline about that culminating with the Sopranos and Lupertazzis joining forces to kill him after which they just resumed killing each other.

No, she was pregnant by Jamie. That is pretty clear. Once again, though, this was all about a very rushed ending to a lot of potential story lines. The more I think about it, they needed about three more 2 hour episodes at least. To cut this season off like it was really is a bad decision on the part of the decision makers of HBO. It was a terrific series all around but they left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths with the way they ended it.
