It would seem from that trailer that it's gonna either be dogshit bad or exceptionally good. The fact that it's an origin story for a villain instead of a hero is also unique and intriguing, unless I'm forgetting something/someone.

I'm just glad Hollywood didn't try and cast the Joker as a female. However, I am not a fan of Joaquin Phoenix and nothing in the trailer hooked me.

So Marvel has the “What If?” Comics which are one off hypothetical stories not beholden to, or having any consequence to the main character’s narrative.

DC has “Elseworlds” which is basically the same thing.

This version of the Joker has been called an Elseworlds story.

Looks good to me tho.

Saw a comment on Reddit that went something like this:

1989 Joker: Let’s throw him in a vat of acid to make him crazy

2019 Joker: Let’s throw him in society to make him crazy
