Pretty sure I had spiked hair in 1984.

Also, we made it about 4 episodes in Season 1 and gave up. Same with Ozark and Narcos. These shows just can't keep our attention for some reason.

I'd give Ozark another try...it's fantastic.

these kids have become teenagers. they're gonna have to end this soon. but it looks pretty epic.

but 4th of july? assholes. that's not exactly a day to stay inside and binge a show. but a bunch of jagoffs on social media will.

I like the voice they've given to the creature.

This show is all about the danger of Reaganism.

finished it tonight after starting it yesterday morning. once again, this is like an 8 hour movie. each chapter just blurs into the next. there isn't really an episode that stands out among others that i can think of.

as a whole, it does ultimately work for me. but they really racked up the cliches in this one. so many moments of the "hero swoop in at the perfect necessary moment", and some real stretches of logic at times.

still sometimes bothered by the anachronistic dialog. kids of the 80's weren't going around talking about "tropes" and saying "super". it was "totally", "gnarly", "wicked", "stoked". looks like the Duffer brothers found the word "dingus" and really drove it home though.

the premise also sometimes promises bigger things and the delivery becomes very predictable. you can see what's coming a mile away at times. that happened in the second season sometimes too but this really telegraphs itself.

the characters are still strong, and there are some real touching moments in the last 10 minutes of the season finale. that's pretty much what saved it for me.

if there's a drinking game there has to be "take a shot each time eleven's nose bleeds" and you'd be dead by episode 3.

i was kind of disappointed by some things and it makes me feel like as it goes on, it's going to "game of thrones" itself.

i'd really hate to see that, so i hope if they do a 4th season that it's the final one.

one final note: i may have hung out at that mall as a kid. it was not a built set from scratch. it was built from an abandoned mall in gwinnett county. i recognized some of the layout because i remember performing near the fountain for elementary chorus.

Finished it up today. For the most part I enjoyed it. They definitely amped up the stretches of logic at times.

I am fairly certain the writers have already said that season 4 will be the last one. Really curious about that last scene and what that means for season 4.

I liked it.

I liked that there were groups split up and having different adventures that all led up to The Battle at Starcourt.

I liked Robin and Erica.

I liked Murray and Alexei.

I liked that Eleven lost her powers.

I liked Dustin and Suzie belting out The Neverending Story.

I liked the final scene in Russia.

One more season should do it.

And it better be fast or these kids are gonna be middle aged.

Great season. The whole premise is absurd so I don't feel the need to nitpick on some of the absurd things like how dumb every Russian was.

I could see two more seasons. Make season 5 like Saved By The Bell: The College Years.

It wasn't that subtle but I loved all the similarities to The Terminator.

I just finished the third episode and am really enjoying season three so far.

The reworking of the Phoebe Cates bikini scene from Fast Times was great. And the Dustin-Steve & Max-Elle couplings are working quite well. Jonathan and Nancy are getting kind of boring, though, and the depiction of the work environment at the Hawkins town paper is weird.

don't expect it to improve.

i loved the first 3 episodes, still liked 4-6, 7-8 is when i found disappointment.

and i absolutely loathed the "neverending story" singing. not cute at all. just lame.

Thought Steve was going to suggest a threesome when he found out Robin was lesbian.

It was cool. Then it went on too long. Then it kept going and it was fun again.

It started strong. I liked Hopper as the overprotective dad, and there were some cool meta moments, but overall it was... disappointing. I thought the tone and pacing were uneven, the characters were cartoonish (and in some cases superfluous), and it was thoroughly lacking in tension. It seems like the first season was the story they really wanted to tell, the second was an effective continuation of the premise, and the third got the Disney Star Wars treatment.

then it was used *again*. my problem wasn't so much the idea or the song...it was the execution. it sounded so trained. had the kids clumsily sung the song loud and obnoxious as kids would in real life...it would've worked for me.

i can't wait to see all the steve/robin sailor duos for halloween this year though.

I lost track of the number of scene re-creations/Easter Eggs. A few that stood out:

The opening scene includes a Drago choke lift tribute from Rocky 4.

The fun house shoot-out is a tribute to the Man With the Golden Gun.

Fun show. Entertaining season.

I liked episode 4 a lot. The storage room's unexpected metamorphosis into a freight elevator descending deep into the Earth's interior was a very cool twist. The Terminator stuff was OK, I guess.

I'm really liking this season. It's more campy and funny than the first two seasons. Will probably finish it up tonight.

Finished it up. My favorite season of the 3. They never showed the one death that leads to that character returning for season 4...which is cool by me.

It will be the final season from what I've heard.

I just started watching this this weekend. We are late to a bunch to a bunch of series and I avoided this one because the kid annoyed me in the FIOS commercials. Anyway, I am glad I started and we binged the first 6 eps. I know I am enjoying it when I have a serious contemplation about whther to go to bed or do another episode.

Yeah, if there's one complaint about the series is that I wish every episode wasn't a cliffhanger. It was the same crap Lost pulled. Just tell the damned story and let me decide if I want to keep watching.

Yeah, why would you want to entice viewers to tune in to the next episode?
