Very entertaining flick. The Marvel universe is so crowded now but at least movies like this can keep the pulse going. The Batch is exceptionally deadpan and funny, and the humor really picks up the movie a lot. the cast is great, the effects are mesmerizing, and for a fall movie, it is a lot of fun.

the main "villain" is a little silly...i guess they didn't want to scare the kiddies too much. but we will see Strange again, and it looks like he'll cross over to the next "Thor" movie next year (per end titles scene).

:D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D

Isn't the main villain the Dread Dormammu?

yes; he's portrayed as something that looks like a cross between a transformer and a disney ride prop.

I watched this last night and thought it was good, but not as good as the Captain America movies, the Thor movies, or the first two Iron Man movies. Cumberbatch did have some good deadpan lines, and Wong had a good line at the end referencing something he said earlier. Mad Mikkelson was good.

I was shocked to see that this got a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes when The Winter Soldier got an 89% as I thought the latter was a FAR better movie...probably my favorite of the recent superhero movies.

I really, really, really believe there is a conspiracy by critics to overrate the Disney/Marvel movies and shit on the Fox/Marvel, Warner Bros/DC movies. Idk if we're talking kickbacks in the form of free Disney vacations for critics and their families, but something is truly suspicious about the RT scores.

Agreed. The special effects were great. The story was pretty good though a little cliched with the "man travels far distances to learn secrets". Overall it was a very good movie and he will be an interesting character moving forward.

Is Doctor Strange kind of a hybrid of Batman and Superman? Rich guy with a nice house learning skills with no superpower skills and wearing a cape.

I liked the movie, but I was not impressed with the effects. It looked like a cheap ripoff of some of the things they did in Inception.
