Second season might be the worst season of a tv show in history, but I'll still give season 3 a try.

Depends on the cast, season 1 was outstanding, season 2 was fuckin awful, I knew it would be with all bad actors other than Farell. The writer got carried by mcconaghy and harrelson in season 1, shitty acting couldn't help him in season 2.

Season one is one of the best single seasons in television history and it has everything to with mcconaghy and harrelson.

Season two was very disappointing.
Vince Vaughn sucked
Rachel McAdams was decent until the last two episodes
Colin Ferrell, meh
Taylor Kitsch was awful
Writing was all over the place, they supposedly switched up the main plot halfway thru filming.

If David milch is more in charge than Nic whatever his name is season 3 should be good
If they give that dude the same leeway they did during season two it's gonna suck

I will watch it, based entirely on everything but the last episode of season 1.

I think fans will be similar to me and give this show one more try. Executives will probably give it two more seasons.

I'm hoping for the best because at its height in season 1, it was one of the best television shows I have ever watched

..for six weeks. Unfortunately it lasted eight and the last two turned into mediocre episodes of Law & Order.

My guess is west Texas, Hell or High Water really showed how brilliant a setting it can be.

buildup was good but the payoff was garbage.

there were allusions stuffed in MANY scenes that ended up being gratuitous gestures.

I don't think there is anything HBO can do to ever match the greatness of season 1 again. It was just the perfect blend of characters McConaughey and Harrelson who played off each other so well. Even Michelle Monaghan is incredibility underrated IMO. Set against a pretty intriguing demographic area in this country, New Orleans and the surrounding areas.

Don't be made because it's over, smile because it happened, there will never be anything... as great as Season 1 again...

Man, I can't get that Alexandra Daddario sex scene out of my head till this day...

Season 1 was horrible and nothing more than an insulting game of bait and switch.

Anyone who watched season 2 is an idiot who got what they deserved.

Anyone who would watch season 3 given the track record deserves to be removed from the gene pool.

It's a go starring Mahershala Ali. Good start.

I'm in.

Season 1 was lightning in a bottle. Season 2's highlight for me was the street shootout. That was some heavy shit.

Season One was cruising along nicely through six episodes, for a 12 or 14 episode season...then they abruptly and ridiculously wrapped it up in 8. Very disappointing.

I never finished season 2.

Don't really have any interest in season 3.

I think they rushed Season 2. If I remember, he spent 10 years on S1.

I have some hopes for S3 that he's learned from his mistakes.

There have been more than token titties in each season

Token/titties is a description of a Friday night at the Chus house

Really great show from the couple of episodes I have seen.

My wife has a strong infatuation with Jason Bateman. She will watch anything that he is in and anything that stars an actor who even looks like him. She really doesn't even try to hide it, although she did say she doesn't like to see him as a bad guy, like in Ozarks.

This is such a bad and overused take.

Season 1 was great.

Season 2 was obviously bad and didn't come close to the magic of Season 1, but to call it the worst season of a tv show in history is just wrong. We live in a world where Kevin James has been a star of a major network tv show for over 10 years. I think we can cut season 2 of True Detective a break and hope it somehow gets better.

Season 2 was really bad but the swan dive that season 1 took was worse.

That's why I still hate that season. If you're going to do all that, wrap it up conclusively. Make me rewatch it to figure out what everything that seemed meaningless, meaningful. That's what good shows are.
