People at work were raving about it so I started the binge last night. You know it's an edgy show when one of the main characters (who played Gale in Breaking Bad) and his female therapist have a conversation about whether it's wrong to be turned on by ass-to-mouth.

Damian Lewis (from Band of Brothers) is pretty good in the lead role and Giamatti is solid. The show is like Glengarry Glen Ross meets Wall Street.

I love "Wags" who was the nerdy scientist "Gale" in Breaking Bad.

This show is so poorly written I can almost feel Giamatti and Lewis struggling to stifle their laughter in just about every scene.

Wow. My head is still spinning from last night's flashback/flash forward/flashback/ flash forward...

Good episode leading up to next week's season finale.

Things are not always as they seem.

Pay close attention to this episode. If you miss a minute or two you might get lost.

A couple of good Godfather & Rudy references.

"Rudy! Rudy! Rudy! Rudy!"

Agreed, had high hopes for this show when I saw Giamatti n Lewis were starring, awful writing.

I hope he didn't leave homeland for this dogshit.

Writing has some strong points. E.g. East coat/nj suburbs hedge fund guys sporting fleece vests to survive the sub 65 temps in the office intended to keep them sharp.

The juice contamination shenanigans were way over the top especially given the number of unreliable characters pulled into the scheme. I expect some irrationality from a hedge mogul, but only on matters of indulgent spending (art, houses, planes, cars, jewelry, Armageddon arks, etc.) not on something that will easily land him behind bars for a long time.

I'm still a bit puzzled on the play re: Chuck's trust. Is he thinking a fast and huge recovery after he busts the scam, or did he also go short, or somehow thinks about taking advantage of Wendy's short that he effectively induced. I was a bit distracted while watching. Anyone?

Yeah, not sure how he recovers the losses, or how Axelrod gets out of it.

File this under the "commonly-known things you just found out," but I did not know Paul Giamatti is A. Bartlett Giamatti's son.

I was drinking when I watched this on Sunday night. So I didn't get it with all the flash backs. Too drunk to follow this one. How did Axe screw them on that stock? I'm gonna watch it again while sober when I can. But if somebody can explain it here I'd appreciate it.

Spoiler...

Axe had several of his former associates and their accomplices mix in some mild poison to the Ice Juice, and when they became ill and taken to the hospital, the stores were closed by the health department and the stock halted after it lost about 80% of its IPO value.

Rewatched it. So Roath was playing Axe all along. That's why he was laughing at the end. He was setting Axe up. But in the process he lost his entire trust. Don't get that. Doesn't sound like a smart play. So he gets him but loses 10+ million. Ok. I don't consider that a win.

That was a great season ending episode.

The cool thing about this show is that both Rhodes and Axe are ass holes. So are the wives. So is Rhodes Sr. There is no hero in this story. It's evil against evil.

Axe pointed out what I did at the end of this show. Rhodes spent 26 million of his trust to get him. That's the dumbest thing ever.

I know. It's just a show.

So, Chuck makes a deal with Boyd to get Axe. They left a loose end there. Getting Boyd was the price that Chuck paid to keep the AG from firing him. The season is over, but hypothetically, would the AG be POd by Chuck letting Boyd walk early? Does getting Axe forgive all debts?

But the AG never wanted him to go after Boyd. Because Boyd was friendly to her. Maybe with donations or whatever. So the AG was happy with this trade.

Minor spoiler (for Bob's benefit...)

I'm looking forward to season 3. The only way I see Axe getting out of his mess is Chuck knowing that Wendy could be pulled down with him and therefore cutting a deal.

Will be interesting to see what they do with the Mason character this season.
