Depressing yet still funny.

Trampoline jumping to Wu Tang Clan was great and Mark Linn-Baker came off well too.

The end in Australia was a bit much but we'll see what happens.

Loved the call back and bump for Mark Linn Baker. and then the musical score usage of perfect strangers as she drives to see the kid? awesome.

Plus the opening credits had the Perfect Strangers theme with the same imagery as last season.

and thats why you always start watching on time. i missed the credits. i recall in an interview, Lindelof mentioned the credits song will change with each episode to reflect its story arc etc

It has been an interesting start to the season. The Mark Linn Baker thing was funny as was the show intro with the music.
I couldn't put my finger on what that song was until they mention Baker later in the episode.

Slower episode than the first that follows Kevin Sr. around Australia. Not as good either but not bad.

Grace...goddamn.

This week's opening credits song is Personal Jesus.

Also liked how Kevin Sr. acted when he read Matt's book.

"I'm not a character in his story. He's a character in mine."

I have to believe that episode will pay off later because I don't really understand it at this point. With a limited number of episodes
this season it is hard to believe they spent an entire one on Sr. Probably could have gotten that done in half the time.

I think I read one of the later episodes is a complete episode spotlight on a different character as well. Matt or Nora I think.

I want to give this a chance to finish strong but it's been a little shaky the first couple coming out of the box. It finished so well last season
that I just wanted it to keep riding the wave.

I laughed at this from Sepinwall's review:

Quote:
The key scene to fully appreciating “Crazy Whitefella Thinking” is one that doesn’t occur in the episode, that the episode’s main character doesn’t even remember, and that may or may not have actually happened. So… Leftovers.

What's he talking about there? That Kevin Sr. already fulfilled his purpose by giving Jr. advice through the TV and he doesn't realize it?

Yeah he's talking about that scene from the second season.

That's an interesting take. Personally, I think he really is crazy.

youll need to keep in mind the creators have said already that not every character is going to get fleshed out and finished by the end of the series. it wouldnt surprise me if we dont see kevin's kids or erika and john murphy again.

Or that Kevin Sr. went to Australia to get the word from God and, if Kevin Jr. is "God", then he got the word and can't remember because he was on acid. So, he continues on this weird chicken quest.

Great episode that had me scared for a minute that clones or some other alternate dimension shit was happening.

Thankfully not, but Kevin and Nora got all their shit out there and there isn't really any coming back from it.

How did Matt, Michael, or John know about Kevin pushing Patti down the well to write about it in their "gospel"? I don't recall him ever telling anyone about that.

I thought Kevin told Michael after he came back the first time.

That episode was pretty fucked up. I enjoyed the hell out of it, though.

I've never seen a TV show like this, not even Lost. It is satisfying to spend about 25 minutes saying WTF is going on and then have a character say WTF is going on.

I still don't know WTF is going on.

Now the flash forward to Nora and her pigeons make sense.

I need to watch the episode again tonight. I loved it.

When Nora got denied after her test was fantastic. She goes from trying to play the uninterested skeptic to the wild-eyed believer at the drop of a hat.

Interesting bit from Sepinwall:

Note that the suicidal man Kevin Sr. met in the Outback last week claimed to have been rejected for giving the opposite answer from the one Nora did: he said he wouldn’t kill the baby, while Nora said she would. Does this make the whole thing some bizarre psychological experiment? Or is the answer itself less important than the way that it’s answered? After seeming to take the question very seriously — asking whether the babies would be hers, and whether the dead one would suffer — Nora’s delivery of her answer seems to treat it as something of a joke. Like the DSD survey we’ve seen her administer several times in the past (including to Sandy in “Don’t Be Ridiculous”), the question seems to have no bearing on the matter at hand, yet has some deeper meaning to which the interviewee isn’t privy.

The goddamn Dutch, man.

I should say makes more sense.

I think Nora stays in Australia after Kevin leaves her and whatever happens on the 14th (or 15th in Australia).

It isn't some crazy other-world doppleganger, which is what I feared when "Evie" showed up.

i like the contrast of how the two end up also. One ends up cast in flames while Nora ends up being drenched with water. Pretty damn cool.

Not sure how I feel about last night's episode.

By itself it was a very good Matt episode, but in the overall scheme of the season it was a waste of an hour. And with only 4 hours left in the show that seems like a poor choice.

Did enjoy "God" getting eaten by the lion in the end.

Weird episode but effective in breaking Matt's faith.

I did enjoy there was a credit at the end for "Vigorous Hand Job Guy".
