Early in the movie Ricky has his football taken by a group of guys. Are those the same guys that they get into a battle with later in the movie and ends up killing Ricky?

No, they might be a part of the same gang but the guys in the vehicle were Ricky's age or maybe slightly older. The guys that took his football had to
be a good 8-10 years older

Watched it recently and was talking to a friend of mine about it. He said that it was the same group of guys that moment was a foreshadowing of what was coming later in the movie. I said I did not think it was related in any way.
