I was really close to going a couple times since it was released, but haven't seen it yet. Def interested.

Saw it Saturday afternoon...I liked it well enough but I think I still like Prometheus better.

It's good. Scott returns to what he does well, no new ground broken but the formula still works. It's much more focused than Prometheus and it's clear now that Prometheus was indeed a prequel, with the events of A:C happening between that and the events with Ripley. Fassbender is excellent.

Apparently, this film has been such a disappointment the two planned sequels may be cancelled. I still haven't seen it.

Should have just let Blomkamp direct the film he wanted about what happens to Ripley, Hicks, and Newt after Aliens.

Damn. They really don't trust Ridley anymore.

I saw it in theatres. Once again Ridley made a great technical film. Great design of sets. Great landscape shots and good sound, but the narrative was sloppy. It was Prometheus again but better if that makes any sense.

I am also surprised at how a movie which was in the black is now considered a major flop in Hollywood. 233 million worldwide minus 100 production and say 100 marketing is still a 33 net plus. If you go by the old take production budget and double it rule.

Maybe the advertising budget was higher. I rode a red line car with floor to ceiling Covenant wallpaper. All of it showing the xenomorphs face. Then the creature shows up for 20 minutes.

I think Ridley has been keen on exploring metaphysical questions and themes since he lost his brother. That's why he loves the Engineer/Ancient Aliens idea, but clearly fans don't care.

watched it last night.

as much of a mess that "prometheus" is, i was a lot more entertained by it. this one was just a by-the-book, predictable and disappointing follow-up.

nothing really got to me, and the initial "alien" creatures were like straight out of "silent hill".

the characters are just another crop of assembly line crew of victims for the creatures to feast on. total waste of danny mcbride.

katherine waterston with her moe howard hairdo is mostly useless as well.

michael fassbender vs. michael fassbender was mildly entertaining, but the climax was weak and the ending didn't move the needle for me.

besides the occasional nice special effects, this was a bore.

:D :D out of :D :D :D :D

Oh i enjoyed it a lot, but mostly for the gore and creature aspects. Most of the characters were throwaways and their logic made no sense sometimes. The dialog was bad, and shaw was no ripley.

But the ending scenes in that movie were awesome.

I'm pretty much on par with your thoughts on the movie. But the ending really didn't do it for me. I thought it was all very predictable.
