And speaking of wrestling, maybe THEE most shocking was Hogan dropping the title to Andre on the Prime Time main event special.

Yeah, that was cold. John Amos and Esther Rolle were upset that the show had become cartoonish, with JJ's "DY-NO-MITE!" drowning out the more serious issues they were trying to portray. Norman Lear finally ended up firing Amos and announcing his character's death via telegram in the scene you mentioned.

BTW, Bernadette Stanis, who played Thelma, is still looking fine at 63.

Red wedding was so prominent on the internet, I knew about it ahead of time. I 100% believed Ned was going to the Night's Watch and then Joff was like "nah, imma kill him still"

I think of all the deaths, D'Angelo's shocked me the most. I didnt think they'd kill him off that quick. It felt like he was the star

After reading Cory's post I'll top this off with Red Wedding and Lem's death. Lem's death might actually be number 1. I was furious

Yeah once he started using I knew it was only a matter of time. It sucks String killed him after he got his shit together and stood tall for the family though.

Cheese was actually one of the most surprising deaths for me, but obviously in a good way. Slim Charles is the man

Damn, If I knew the Shield had such a powerful scene I would have watched the show or not started this thread.

Yeah that's a tough one. HIGHLY recommend watching it anyway.

It's probably the only death I can remember where I seriously thought about quitting watching.

End of the first season of 24 when Jack's wife was murdered rather than (more conventionally) saved at the last moment. IIRC it was deemed to be shocking and perhaps rather risky at the time.
