I plan on binge watching Season 1 tonight with the girlfriend so we're both caught up for tomorrow.

Great. For all of the people with lives, please don’t post about it for 3 months. Thanks in advance.

Doesn't it make more sense to tell those who don't want to be spoiled to simply avoid clicking on the thread?

When did you turn into Mr. Serious? Did LTG get into your head?

It's possible. I guess I didn't get the joke.

Honestly not as much as I used to.

I had the day off today and the kids were at school so I watched most of it during the day.

My brother in law took a vacation day to watch. His kids stayed home from school. Not sure I get the problem with waiting 14 hours but whatever. Was interesting having dinner with his boss and the boss mentioning that BIL had to take d off to take care of his kids.

Yeah I wouldn't take a vacation day just to watch a tv show.

Even I'm not that nuts.

See, my idea of binge wTch g a show is ignoring it for 4 seasons and then pounding out the episodes over a a few weeks. I can’t sit still for 12 hours or however many hours a season is. I have kids, a wife who may murder me if I don’t take care of the kids, work to do.

OK, i was just messin' with TP there.

here's my spoiler-free review:

i loved this season. it absolutely builds on what it created in the first season. the characters are given time to grow, we really get more of that "goonies" gangs-all-here feel. the addition of sean astin is nice, and he plays the dopey dad wanna-be perfectly. he is dopey, but he is also kinda lovable. he plays joyce's love interest.

we learn a lot more about 11's backstory, and that she might have some company in her abilities. it was an experiment obviously, so there were more than one patient. and probably more than eleven. and we are re-introduced to her mother again, and it's a pretty heartbreaking story.

hopper is probably my favorite character in this season, besides mike. all of the performances are great--EVEN...yes, winona's is vastly improved. she doesn't chew up scenery or try screaming out of her own skin this time.

the 80's are much more alive in this season too. there are some great music cues, and unlike "It", they get the arcade setting much more accurately.

the creatures and effects are great, the look of the show is fantastic, and the atmosphere really draws you in along with the characters.

the climax and conclusion, to me, were very satisfying. there is a little bit of predictability. i wouldn't say this is re-inventing the wheel or even the show itself. but it is very entertaining throughout. i literally couldn't stop watching once i started, and i'm not one to consider myself part of this "binge" culture.

strap in, and enjoy the ride. it's pulsating at times, endearing, and very heartfelt.

kudos to the duffer bros. like the mario bros., you rock the 80's.

:D :D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D

I was worried the new characters would feel like Poochie. And Billy kinda did but Max felt like she belonged. Bob was a great character and I think his interaction with Joyce kept Winona Ryder from going overboard like last season.

Episode 7 was interesting in that it allowed Eleven to find where her true place is. She's not a monster. She's a friend. Hopper and her had some if the best scenes as you see him struggling with his second chance at being a parent.

The last scenes were a perfect closure for the season, and the very end does setup next season with the big bad still lurking.

Steve and Dustin pairing made for some solid scenes as well.

agreed. i really liked the chemistry between the characters. billy was kinda over the top but...something about him still worked for me. he reminded me of one of my neighbor's older brothers growing up.

This season was great. I was worried, but it was as good or better than season 1.

Except Episode 7. Bottle episodes suck. And backdoor pilot bottle episodes even more so.

I thought that way at first too.

After seeing the last 2 episodes, I enjoyed it more. Would've been better without the gang and was just 8 and 11.

Has it become too obvious that the "Upside Down" is a metaphor for the ascent of Reaganism/neoliberal ideology?

Finished the season last night. It was great, but I didn't like it quite as much as the first season.

My favorite aspects of the season

- Dustin and Steve's relationship.
- Hopper and Eleven especially the final episode
- Bob. When he gets excited about trying to find the location by looking at the tunnel drawings was a great scene.

I thought the acting was great this season. I was especially impressed with the character of Will and Noah Schnapp's acting. He basically is the focal point and so much happens because of him. But in the first season, the actual character got lost in all of it, as the show focused on the other character's reactions to Will's plot. This season it was nice to actually see the actor and character act and develop. The scene where they locked him in the shed and tried to talk with him was pretty powerful.

It was also great to see Paul Reiser actually be a good guy. They made it pretty ambiguous through much of the season on whether he was actually wanting to be helpful, or if he was another Papa.

The weakest points of this season for me

- Max. I get why they brought her on board, but I still didn't care for her much. Didn't think she added much other than tension between the party.
- Nancy and Jonathan. They didn't really do much until the end, and their side plot of tracking down the PI was pretty pointless.

- max was cliche, but i liked her.

- was a bit anti-climactic. but that subplot led to the best line in the whole series.

Watched both seasons over the last couple of weeks. Really enjoyed it. I liked season 2 better than season 1. Loved all the 80s memories and music.

Loved Bob. Was somewhat expecting him to have a heel turn and be evil at some point.

Hopper and Eleven are both great in their roles. Dustin was great, so many good one liners.

Karen Miller had a nice milfy thing going on, need to see more of her

I didn't like the apparent regression in Jonathan's character this season. In a few of the confrontations with the demidogs, he seemed to be quaking in fear, quite a contrast with the end of last season when he was aggressively battling the shadow creature after knocking Steve out.

My guess is he might be the first main character to bite it. He should have had a bigger role this season, but he didn't add much in his scenes. And the actor is British and was found with trace amounts of cocaine in his luggage at an airport, so he could have a hard time getting back into the country. I think old Jonathan bites it next season and Nancy and Steve get back to bumping uglies.
