I just saw the situation with Omar escaping Marlo by jumping over the bricks several floors up. Do they ever explain how he was able to do that? It does not seem possible.

There's a tremendous story behind that.

The real life inspiration for Omar was a guy named Donnie Andrews. I'm too lazy but if you google his name and jump you'll find the story. Essentially, he says he jumped down 6 floors in real life but that wasn't believable so they lowered the number of floors to like 3 or 4 for the show.

ALLUSIONS TO SPOILERS FOR S5 - NOT REALLY

That's the thing about 5. Some great, great moments. But, overall the season is very uneven.

I don't like 2 as much as some of the other seasons but it is a solid season of storytelling. I just didn't think the story was as compelling as 1, 3, and 4. 5 could have been interesting but the McNulty angle, I thought, was total horseshit and I just can't see a way to explain around it and call it a good overall season, let's say great, the moments made it good but it wasn't a great season.

I hope they bring the show back one day.

Most of these guys went to Walking Dead but I think most of them have been killed off already.

Was really surprised that they killed off Omar the way they did. What was the purpose of that? Wouldnt it have been better to have final confrontation between Omar and Marlo?

I started the thread as one for questions about the wire. I knew Omar was killed off at some point before I even started the show. If you read a thread on questions about the Wire before watching it then you deserve to see spoilers.

The Wite ended 10 years ago. Rules on spoilers has long since ended.

Isn’t the point with Omar that it was a kid? The cyclical nature of it all?

Also, a take on the classic Western movie trope that it’s always the dumb-ass amateur that does you in. I liked the way they did it.

Yeah I guess I can see that. I was just really enjoying the build up between Omar and Marlo. Wanted to see more of that.

I hated and loved the Omar death. He was the greatest character in the show.

Doesn't seen possible.

The season ending montages are better than most actual seasons of TV shows.
