Anyone want to speculate which one they'll use? It has to be good.

I've always loved Bread and Circuses but that won't be it.

Some less obvious version of Let That Be Your Last Battlefield is definitely in Tarantino's wheelhouse. I'd go with this or Balance as my guess.

Balance of Terror would make for a great film... although to be fair that film already exists as "The Enemy Below."

Tarantino spoke in a podcast about a couple episodes he liked from the Star Trek universe. One is from Next Generation if I'm reading correctly.

From 2015:

He can't do Yesterday's Enterprise because the TNG crew hasn't been established in a reboot like the TOS crew. That story wouldn't work if these youngsters don't understand Tasha Yar.

It wouldn't work. They can't bring back Stewart and Frakes and do it. Although that would be cool.

I would bet good money that, given the fact he did major touch-up work on Crimson Tide (Silver Surfer, Lipizzan horses), he would go for Balance of Terror.

The notion of a cloaking device has already been well covered in the TV episodes and film. It was even used by the Klingon's in Search of Spock, when the Romulans were supposed to be the ones that have the device. So I don' think it will be Balance of Terror.

I think the movie could be some play on Arena, where two captains face-off with one another with the survival of their ships at stake. No, they don't have to use the Reptilian again, the Gorn. Could be another type of alien.

How about Patterns of Force with the Nazi angle, given Tarantino made Inglorious Basterds? It would be a strange choice, but not out of the realm of possibility for Tarantino.

My top guess is something like the Corbomite Manuaever, with Kirk and the crew facing a Kobayashi Maru situation against a superior alien Starship.

Balance of Terror was long my favorite Star Trek Episode. Before there even was cable, I would always try to catch it on late night reruns, but it was rarely shown.

I wonder if Shatner will appear in it? Chris Pine is not Kirk. Would be a mistake to use him again for this.

I got one more: The Ultimate Computer.

Great episode that could be turned into a movie. It's Star Trek Meets Space Odyssey with Hal destroying federation warships. Maybe it's where Kubrik got his idea from?

The actor that played the scientist did a superb job in this episode. Spock gives him the nerve pinch to subdue him.

I never really thought of it as a "cloaking" episode.

It was a submarine movie in space. Probably won't happen since he already did Crimson Tide but it would be in his wheelhouse.

Zachary Quinto says there are 4 scripts for Star Trek 4, including Tarantino's.

Simon Pegg says he doesn't think Tarantino will direct Star Trek 4.

The QT film will never happen.

I'm mad at myself that I even considered that it might.

It would really satisfy my movie going experience if Tarantino stepped outside of his comfort zone and directed a sci-fi or superhero film before he retired.
