It's back! An actual tv family that the majority of Americans may be able to relate to.

Not Family Matters unless Jamiee Foxworth is in the reboot and she owns a club called Crave.

Didn't she actually become a Trump fan?

I enjoyed it if it happened to be on the tv when I sat down. But it wasn't appointment TV for me.

Yeah. I knew people who loved it but if I happen to catch it in syndication there is a good chance I haven’t seen it.

Did people really appreciate Roseanne when it aired or was a lot of it retroactive when they realized how divorced from reality a show like Modern Family is?

I understand Roseanne a lot more than I did when bit came out. I’m pretty sure I know the Connor familly these days.

sitcoms are never grounded in economic reality. Case in point, how the fuck does Kramer afford a place in Jerry's building?

I never watched it, but wasn't it just Good Times with hillbillies in Elgin instead of black people in Cabrini Green?

Because he falls ass-backwards into money!

Friends is a much better example.

it was a pretty big show and a bit revolutionary for its time. most sitcoms in the 80's revolved around upper middle class to flat out incomprehensively rich families. while "married ...with children" satirized the format, "roseanne" was the blue-collar family sitcom that people felt they could relate to. and they were the first show to begin the "halloween" tradition, so i give them credit for that.

it definitely lost a step in the final years and the ending was awful. i think they're trying to rectify that this time around.

Is this re-boot just going to completely ignore the fact that John Goodman's character died?

from the promos it looks like they're making fun of that decision and turning it into a joke.

Nope. One family was living in poverty and the other family was lower middle-class.

Which one was living in poverty? James Evans always put food on the table!

James Evans put food on the table but they lived in the projects and was a missed shift from a financial crisis. The Conners were a typical lower middle-class family that owned a home. Both families are more relatable to the majority of America.

And didn't the Conners win the lottery? Did they blow all that money on jet-skis and crystal meth?

It was top 20 8 of it's 9 seasons, and was #1 in its 2nd season, beating out Cosby. Plenty of people liked the show.

I meant the critical appreciation for it.

Friends tried to explain some of it by having Monica illegally subletting her grandma's apartment who had it cheap through rent control. But yeah, an unemployed actor and coffee house waitress being able to afford Manhattan apartments is the epitome of crock.
