Matt Houston marathon all this weekend. On Decades channel NOW!

I guarantee u within 5 minutes of tuning in, you will be laughin' ur ass off.

Car chases, foot chases, fistfights, car crashes. In every episode!

The way Matt lands these punches square in the face of these guys is hilarious.

But dont get the wrong idea, he's a nice guy when he's not in a fight.

Basically a mystery/cop show similar in format to most of our other favorite 70s/80s cop shows, but this one has a little more action, and it's hilarious!

Fun Fact: The Barnaby Jones dude is playin his uncle and helps him out too.

Tune in!

Hilarious car chase!

Houston took a fisherman's car to chase somebody.

The suspect was able to get around a big semi backing out into the middle of the road.

Then as Houston was approaching, the truck was all the way out in the middle of the road, no way to get around it.

Houston ducked in the car, and the car went under the semi, ripping the top half of the car off!

Houston had a stunned look on his face

Barnaby Jones used our house as a location shoot a year before I was born so about 79-80. I've never seen the episode but my parents had their picture taken with him and said he was a very nice guy. I have no idea who Matt Houston is though.

The guy that played Barnaby Jones was the dad in Beverly Hillbillies. Then he did a cop show called Barnaby Jones that ran during the 70s. I've never watched an episode so don't know if it was good or not.

You didn't watch Matt Houston?

It was the ABC version of Magnum PI.

I remember the girl in it was pretty hot.

Hell, I didn't watch Magnum PI. During college I was either studying, working or chasing. Not watching crappy 80s t.v. shows.

It's excellent. CBS used to do the 4pm crime drama shows after a young Dr. Ken would get home from school.

They did Rockford Files for a while and then I think they did a rotation of Quincy, Barnaby Jones....I can't remember the others but I loved them all.

I've said it before but if you've never watched the Rockford Files, you are missing out.

Don't make shows like that anymore. - Old Dr. Kenneth Noisewater, 2021.

James Garner loved his Raiders...he was also great in the movie Grand Prix. I'll have to check out Rockford Files some time. The only show from the 70s I think I've seen a lot of was Hawaii Five-O. I thought it was great.

it's funny, i liked the Police Squad! episodes on their own (all 6 of them ) for a long time before I saw a few episodes of Barnaby Jones and Cannon and realized what they were spoofing

It's funny how many famous people (i realize that's a very relative term) were on those shows...on Barnaby Jones i've seen Mona from Who's the Boss, John Ritter, Tyne Daly

i also really like how whenever someone offers Barnaby a drink he asks for a glass of milk

I never heard of him either, until last weekend. Reminded me of Magnum PI also.

the car chase and fighting scenes were hilarious. Makes all the other cop shows seem meek.

It felt like watching All Elite Wrestling. throwing people on glass tables, across the room, raring up his fist and delivering loud thud punches square on the nose, (whereas most other cop shows the punches look fake and meek), using foreign objects.

Really? 4pm?

I imagined these to be weekly prime time (7 or 8PM) shows on Friday or Saturday nights, the way Hunter and other shit was in the 80s.

It was always amusing to think that he or Cannon posed a physical challenge to any young criminal, or how anyone was supposed to believe it.

ok, over the last few nights i've seen some pretty stupid/ridiculous endings
In a Cannon episode a few nights ago, some guys are running a drug smuggling operation out of some giant ranch. At the end this small plane is taking off with the goods....Cannon somehow manages to catch up to it in his hooptie, pull out his gun and shoot at it while driving, and take out the engine. Totally believable.

Then last night on Barnaby Jones, some dude that Barnaby helped put away comes back for revenge. Early in the episode they show Barnaby at his ranch where he apparently has some horse that can do tricks . And a dog, that the bad guy later kills. But at the end, the bad guy has Betty kidnapped and they're at the ranch. Barnaby starts coming toward them...the bad guy stands there for about 10 minutes with him in the rifle's crosshairs but of course doesn't shoot. Barnaby gets close and whistles causing the horse to go apeshit, which in turn startles the bad guy, allowing Barnaby to shoot him.
