Only if you ignore the final two seasons.

There are really two heroes in the whole story. Ned and Jon Snow. In a few years when they finish "Jon Snow kills Bran" it will be clear that Jaime was right and Jon Snow finished the job.

Dany wasn’t bad in the final two seasons. Just the last hour or so.

Jon’s a Targaryen. Jon’s a hero. By the transitive property of GoT, Targaryens are heroes.

I do think Jon will redeem the family name after the Mad King. It will be like when Ivanka is President and is an all time great one.

Is that really true though? Dany's answer to every problem was to have Drogon roast motherfuckers.

Is that bad?

Well, she certainly wasn't a diplomat.

Season 8 shouldn't even be canon it was a sham. HBO should have had the balls to fire those 2 morons.

‘They just kind of forgot about the iron fleet’ is on the Mount Rushmore of all time dumb writing.

I didn't even watch all of Season 8...when the dragon got shot out of the sky I just said I'm done. That was the stupidest thing I've ever seen.

They did a film festival in Austin and for some reason decided to piss their careers away. They talked freely about how incompetent they were. Neither of them could write so their pitch to HBO was a thousand pages of garbage. They hoped HBO would be impressed by its size and not actually read it...it worked. The only one to express reluctance was Martin but they still got gig.

I'm not sure why they decided to pitch Game of Thrones...at least one of them hated fantasy which explains some of their changes from books.

They didn't want to do Season 8 because they got Star Wars so they wanted to get started on that.

If you google Benioff Weiss Austin you'll see all the articles about that film festival. I think they lost Star Wars right after their comments went public.

If you don't think this show is great after the episode then it's just not for you. GoT still had some better episodes but that was nearly as good as peak GoT besides battle episodes that aren't pitch black.

If Bezos wasn't bald he'd be pulling his hair out right now. There's no comparison between two shows at this point. He's losing.

Sets up for a solid finish to the opening season. I fear another time jump but hope it doesn’t happen for a while.

The guy playing Aemond is leaning a little hard into the Daemon impression but it was a great episode. Daemon continues to be a wonderful person.

Supposedly there will not be another time jump until we get to see Jon Snow kill Bran in a different show.

Ned’s honor led him to kill a bunch of people. Led him to lie to Jon and allow Jon to sign up for a life sentence as a virgin wall guarder. He held to a code, yes, but having a code doesn’t necessarily make someone good.

I loved the story lines of GoT. Most of the characters had some portions of good fighting bad within them and it kept us guessing which would win out in the character.

The Targareyen's are the enemy in GoT though. Of course they are in general going to be more evil. The good guys show up later.

I kind of think it is the opposite with Got. Danerys starts out good right emancipating cities and countries from their slaveowners. She then turns power mad and Jon kills her. When I think more about it, the only real good guy and hero in all of this is the IMP. :drunken:

I agree that Season 8 was awful. Truthfully, they should have not written it the way they did and possibly made a movie out of it to bring the story lines to a proper close.

Were the Targareyens the enemy in GOT? I thought there was only one Targareyen left after the blind dude at the wall died, and he was viewed as a sympathetic figure. Then we came to know of another Targareyen later in the show (John), who definitely wasn't the enemy. So you've got Dany who became the enemy during the last episode of the show and then historic Targareyens who were definitely evil but were long dead once the show started.

This show is a tough watch, real trashy. The acting and writing is weak as fuck, the casting is poor, the time line jumping was not thought out well at all. GOT first episode season 1 was very good. And much better than any episode of this garbage so far..

I’m not too intimidated by those dark haired brothers. I could see why they were getting bullied. Just wondered if they gave them 5 more years if things would even out. I’m glad to hear there are no more, just not sure where those storylines end up going.

The king aged 35 years but not the kings brother or sister or the brother in law...or the kings hand.

But the King's one-eyed son is now older than his mother.

Maybe, but Tyrion/Jorah tamed her a bit up until Missandai was executed. Prior to that she did donate her dragons and army to defeating the night king, losing one dragon in the process. Can't think of a greater sacrifice.

That's the one thing I prefer about the new show. There isn't a stupid extra plot with a Zombie King and his undead army.

You can see what the show is trying to do at the dinner table when the characters reference their time growing up with one another while fake praising one another. It still didn't hit home for me because while we did see them "grow up" and experience seminal moments together, it all happened in like the blink of an eye. Not that it's always fair to contrast this show with GOT, but in GOT, you actually spend months and sometimes years with character pairings before they lose touch. Then when they reunite actual years (in real time) down the road there's a payoff. That's not my main issue with the show just thought I'd mention it.

Was it always stupid? I thought it was intriguing up until things fell off the rails generally in the later seasons. I think they started the pilot with a warg if I remember correctly.

I never cared at all about the Wights or the White Walkers. It was like a weird horror movie jammed into the middle of a compelling Medieval political drama.

Yeah it was an interesting concept the idea of various factions fighting while a powerful entity is coming that will kill them all. There was zero chance Weiss and Benioff would be able to pull it off though without help from the books. They used fast zombies ffs.

Even though they're a couple of hacks the opening of the great battle was pretty good. When they charged and the flame swords started going out that was pretty dramatic. Then it fell apart completely after that. Fast zombies...wtf.

Never explaining the night king or the point of the whole thing was also horrific writing.

I can't even remember what the show said...wasn't it the forest kids created him to fight humans? The books are so far behind I don't think they've even revealed the night king yet if they even will.
