You know what this series is? It's that pileup on the Pennsylvania expressway that was posted. It's unfathomable that cars and trucks just keep on wrecking. But they do, and you keep on watching, feeling sorry for all of them.

Just now getting to the Larry Bird episode. As this has gone along, it's really only making Westhead look bad imho.

Even Jerry West is looking less like a non functioning drunk and more like a maniacally obsessed Lakers junkie.

I listened to a podcast on the career of Michael Ray Richardson. At one point in his career he went missing because he was on a multiple day coke binge with a woman. The last reported sighting of Richardson was from a teammate who said something like "The last time I saw Michael Ray he was driving away in his convertible with the top down during a blizzard wearing a fur coat with a woman in the passenger seat."

Now that is fan-tastic.

This episode moves away from a race-based identity politics framework to an equally well conceived gender-based identity politics framework.

Despite the show's shift in emphasis, the parallel between Jerry Buss and Magic Johnson is further developed by showing how they have both failed women.

Buss' mother tells Jeannie that men are weak narcissists, and Jeannie in turn revolts against her father's grotesque and self-centered hedonism with some vomiting and an emotional outburst. In an apparent attempt to prove his mother's assessment of men correct, the undaunted Jerry seeks comfort from his mom's nurse in a scene that quickly moves from an awkward and unconvincing emotional catharsis to an awkward and creepy sexual encounter, a clumsy fumbling to which the nurse presumably acquiesces because Buss has offered to pay for her degree in hospital administration.

Meanwhile, it turns out that Magic Johnson used his magic johnson to knock up Rhonda, one of Cookie's close friends. Cookie finds out about the pregnancy, expresses her disgust and disappointment with Magic, and packs up her things to head back to Michigan.

It is thus proven that men are simple-minded losers governed more by their penises than they are their brains, ambitions or anything else.

Bernstein gave this show his full throated approval today. We were told not to worry about the facts or the accuracy and just enjoy it.

Show was a bit of a letdown. I'd rate it 3 out of 5 stars and that's being generous.

Next Season will be Magic vs Bird climaxing @ the 81 Finals with Bird winning it and the 84 Finals when Bird beats Magic. Maybe the 85 finals too when the Lakers finally beat the Celtics in the Finals after losing 9 straight Finals to them.

They should have saved the iconic Magic hook shot that daggered the Celtics in '85 for next season rather than waste it on the 2nd half blowout in Philly.

Did shakes ever apologize to Jerry West? Why was West so mad at shakes anyhow, having shakes announce his fandom for Jerry West hurt West's brand or something?

The series is gonna go all the way to the end of the dynasty and the loss to the Baby Bulls in the 91 Finals...remember the flash forward in Episode 1 to when Magic found out he had the AIDS?

I don't care about West but I haven't watched any of this and didn't really want to spend much time with it after hearing so much of it was fiction.
