Frank, please ignore this thread.

It's not going to be a Christmas classic but it's a fairly decent follow up to a Christmas classic that does the previous one justice with a decent enough story.

It also really leans into how terrible it is to live in the state of Indiana. Ralphie escapes to the paradise of Chicago and lives a quality life while the rest of the town seemingly is drinking themselves to death before they die.

Watch it if you liked the original and are willing to have lowered expectations.

Does he live in Chicago proper or Chicagoland?

Fun fact: you can only drink yourself to death before you die.

It looked like he was in the real Chicago. I think he lived near the loop.

Popular culture needs to do a better job of warning the public about the horror of spending time in Indiana.

Stranger Things makes some headway in this regard by depicting one of the state's towns as a sentient hellscape capable of bringing about the apocalypse, but the show still comes off as a bit disingenuous due to the understated nature of its depiction.

Ralphie with his Red Ryder dispensing justice in the crime ridden streets of Chicago would have been interesting but this sounds like a dud. Chicago needs a hero. Missed opportunity.

It's like the opposite of the Ogie life story

I hope they mention the Sox again. The Old Man was a big Sox fan.

The old man is dead, the narrator...dead. Reinsdorf...not dead.

They should have had Kyle Rittenhouse as Chicago Ralphie.

He buys a Sox hat for his kid. His kid probably loved 2005. Ralphie may not have made it.

We got through about an hour of it...acting wasn't that bad but I felt like we were taking a stop at every (and I mean every) interesting moment of the original...kinda sucked really

watched it last night, hadn't caught it last christmas. it was corny at times, and some of the actors looked too contemporary to be seen as believably living in the 70's. but there was a sweetness to it, and some of the homages to the old man were really well done. this was always going to be a sentimental type of film, and it certainly reveled in it.

i didn't realize there were already 2 other sequels to "a christmas story" prior to this one, but i liked seeing all the original actors come back. especialy scut farkus.

i enjoyed it enough.

:D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D

I came home very drunk on saturday and watched it while eating chips and french onion dip. I don't remember a thing about the movie but the b-hole remembered the food.

and Bagels, I went to Fitzgerald's to see Rev. Peyton's Big Damn Band. Is that hip enough for you? There were certainly enough hip beards wearing obscure concert shirts in the crowd.
