I think I have vague memories of Fritz from when I was a young kid. I didn't last much past that era as a wrestling watcher.

World Class Championship Wrestling in the 80s was insane. It seemed like there was a massive in-ring riot every week on the Saturday TV shows.

Such a great lineup of characters: The Von Erichs, the Freebirds, Gino Hernandez, Bruiser Brody, Flair, Chris Adams, Skandor Akbar, Gary Hart, etc.

I loved that promotion.

It really was great. And pretty much everyone great from that time period hit that promotion at some point in their career.

Abadullah the Butcher and Bruiser Brody had some great battles back then.

WCCW out of Texas was like the single A ball of wrestling back in the day.

The Von Erichs - to me they looked all like a bunch of goofs.

Never appealed to me. WCCW was the trailer park version of the WWF.

No way. The match in Texas Stadium where Kerry Von Erich beat Flair for the NWA title was amazing: Flair had the great entrance in the helicopter, the crowd was electric, and both wrestlers worked a terrific match. That moment in and of itself validated the promotion, but some of the battles between the Freebirds and Von Erichs were epic as well. And Gino Hernandez could work the mic like few others at the time. But all of this is just the tip of the iceberg.
