I hope AMC shows Halloween II because they always show the additional scenes and alternate ending.

Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein was on a week ago. My favorite horror comedy. More recently, "What We Do in the Shadows" is very funny.

Is the "Fearless Vampires" the Fearless Vampire Killers?

We've been doing a Simpsons Halloween episode each night during the week and MST3K horror movies on the weekend. Werewolf was hilarious. Manos this weekend.

nice; on facebook, for the past 4 years i've done a "31 days of..." through October, usually linking youtube videos. In 2013, it was random horror films. In 2014, it was actually MST episodes that were all horror themed. definitely becomes a bit laborious about halfway through the month but i did find 31 great episodes of MST classics. one of my favorites is "zombie nightmare".

i usually do the "treehouse of horror" eps leading up to halloween as well.

Just watched "Ghost of A. Chantz" Dick Van Dyke episode on Netflix. Classic. Truly shows how good writers make a sitcom.

my gym's even gotten into the spirit. they were playing "shaun of the dead" in their "theater" and they have a few TV's in the main room playing it as well.

watched "horror hotel" and "horror express" on TCM last night. never saw either before, and enjoyed both thoroughly. christopher lee was such a treat.

rifftrax is hit or miss with me. i don't usually like when they do classic, good movies. i think it's kind of like...diluting the product. "carnival of souls" is best enjoyed in a dark room setting with no distractions. i don't think i need the peanut gallery treatment.

now "birdemic"...that was a classic rifftrax.

watched "the body snatcher" last night on TCM. what a classic. i love old school horror flicks.

speaking of which, they're showing "dead of night" on halloween day. one of the best anthology horror classics ever.

Hit or miss is probably true but that could apply to MST3K as well to some degree. I'm ok with their take on "good" movies that I've seen numerous times since I already know why it was enjoyable to begin with and it just provides a different reason to watch. I thought RiffTrax Jaws was hilarious.

BUMP!!!!

TCM killed it (literally) earlier in the year with March Madmen or whatever it was called. Lot of classic, dark films, like "Peeping Tom" and "Psycho", but somewhere in there they played some classic Christopher Lee films too.

so I'll throw out a few nights to start with. if i can do some digging, I'll let you know what other gems there are out there. as we get closer to Halloween, I try to expand the list.

Just a head's up: "Stranger Things" season 2 drops on Netflix 10/27. just to get that out of the way.

more for today...

SyFy

12:00pm – Night of the Wild
2:00pm – The Cave
4:00pm – The Sixth Sense
6:30pm – Underworld
11:00pm – Blade

still do not get why "underworld" and "blade" are considered horror films...i like that SyFy's playing "Maggie" though. interesting concept.

was watching "the bad seed" last night on TCM. that movie's a classic, even though it's woefully overacted.

also watched the "fright night" remake for the 3rd time. it's one of the better ones, thanks to david tennant. pretty fun movie, exactly like the original.

Watched the first Saw movie last night. Hadn't seen it in years. I've seen every Saw movie they've made, and the series really went off the rails after the first few. The recent movies in the series cared more about shocking, extreme deaths than a coherent plot. But that first movie really built up suspense. And to this day, one of the best twist endings ever in a movie.

"Final Destination 2" on Starz right now. 3 is probably my favorite as far as outrageous kills but 2 is when it starts to feel like a slasher series, and the chicks are hot.

"Great Pumpkin" was on too, which always gets me into the season.
