This whole season has been trash. You could basically describe everything important that happened in about 5 sentences since they were done with Negan bashing heads.

They've dragged out what should've been 5 or 6 episodes of preparation to an entire season.

This show is like wrestling to me. I watch the show out of habit now, not because it's good.

I've enjoyed the season, but I like the slow burn of it and don't want the conflict with the Saviors to be rushed.

But, I can understand how others could be frustrated with it.

I don't watch this show any longer but there was one season where I recorded it and I just FF thru each weekly episode and pretty much caught what was going on without hearing any dialogue.

If you have the tiger you have to use it for something.

That battle was fun in a campy way. It seemed like the actor playing Negan treated it that way, just kind of fun and ridiculous.

When he said that they were going to war, the cut away was supposed to be an intimidatingly large army but his group doesn't look like it has any more people than the combination of Alexandria, Hilltop and Kingdom. If you subtract the garbage people but add Oceanside, Rick may have more soldiers.

I've seen enough of Negan now that I don't think his way of life is all that bad. It is a dictatorship but it doesn't seem all that oppressive.

I liked the episode. Probably the first one in a while.

Seeing Negan thrown off his game twice this episode was refreshing.

The only thing that would've made it a perfect episode was if all the garbage people were killed off and erased from memory.

I did not like how he is driving away in that big truck while flipping the bird at a dozen machine guns firing right at him. That looked like an ode to the A-Team.

Ugh. That was way too much. Dude would be dead and missing an arm.

It was cool to hear him be like "Damn, they got a tiger?" I just love the way Negan talks.

What a horrible battle scene. Rick and crew, while outnumbered in people and weapons, manage to kill dozens of people without losing anybody.

And of course, the tiger knows who to attack.

Good first episode. Good last episode. Bad season.

The weird talkers may be a sign this show is dying. How did they think that was going to work? They need to disappear quickly next season.

Also, they really failed to deliver on the Morgan and Carol story lines. "Oh, people died, forget everything I've been saying and let's kill everyone". What a waste of time that was.

I think I'd be more satisfied to see that ugly garbage dump woman's head on a stick than Negan's.

I saw on line somewhere that internet nerds calculated that they are less than two years into the apocalypse. There really is no explanation for these people losing their verbal abilities.

Where did you see that? I thought they were about 3-4 years in at this point. I thought there was a bit of a time jump in between one of the seasons right after they left the farm.

I know you have to suspend reality for this show, but there are just so many plot lines that could be created.

They seem to never have any natural impacts. Its always sunny in alexandria! A hurricane? Snow? A tornado? There has to be some opportunity to put the groups in a situation together.

At some point here, you get the fun of nuclear plants going into meltdown, right? That could be really fun. Radioactive walking dead!

I quit watching this show years ago in season 3 because I thought it was bad, boring, and repetitive. The last month or two I got bored with new shows and caught up on seasons 3-7. I still don't think it's a "good" show, but I think its entertaining enough in fun bad way.

Obviously it can't work out like this but I can't be the only person rooting for Negan in this war. Fuck Rick. He's gotta be one of the weakest, most wishy-washy protagonists in tv history. Negan is great. I don't have one bad thing really to say about him.

I agree with the concensus in this thread that the garbage people are just awful all the way around. Surprised at the Eugene love though. He's had occasionally funny moments but he's an absolute cartoon and the majority of his scenes are terrible. IMO he just sticks out like a sore thumb in a bad way on the show.

This show has pretty much been the highest rated show on tv since it debuted and seven seasons in they still can't hire a good writing team? That seems bizarre to me. Dolphin said the battle scene was campy but the whole show is. I'll probably eventually keep watching season 8, although not on a weekly basis, but it's a strange show in that it's bad to mediocre almost since the debut season but it throws in a great episode every now and then to keep you watching.

It's been interesting following this thread as I've gone along. Best parts of it were Doc goofing on gd for always being out of sync time wise, and Rick saying it was a contender for best tv show ever(I know that's not what he currently thinks, was just funny reading at the time). I don't get the Morgan hate. He's a top 3-4 character in series history.

Since the show is clearly a dumb goofy show at this point, they should get more creative with different groups of people. There's gotta be a million ideas better than the garbage people who forgot how to say sentences within a couple years of the ZA. How about a group who built a community underground? Shit like that.

Best episode of the series was the cheesemaker episode IMO.

I only partially agree with you on that. I thought Shane was a very weak two dimensional character but I can see how someone would think that's preferable to Rick who is the most phony tough guy I've ever seen.
