Didn't seem like they were killing any of them until Jon cut down the WW with Valyrian steel. And on the ice island they were just hacking to keep them at bay. Just seemed like something that should have been very specific and called out.

What's the deal with the shitty previews this season? They are like 30 second panning shots that give you no idea what to be getting hyped for. I know I could go to r/freedom and read the script but I would like to keep some of my excitement alive.

I was able to pause the preview and I saw at least Davos, Podrick, Tyrion, Jorah, Theon, Brienne and Jon Snow in one still. Dany, Jamie and Cersei were also highlighted. Seems like Doc said, the Yalta Conference of Westeros.

They can't be reanimated if they haven't first ceased being animated. So regular swords can halt wights' animation.

I don't even know if you're arguing with me or not. Normal weapons cannot put a wight down. They will get right back up, no matter what shape the corpse is in.

Only fire or dragonglass can put them down, and they cannot be reanimated.

The White Walkers the one Jon killed can only be destroyed by Dragonglass or Valaryian steel.

Wights have been destroyed on the show by regular swords (Hardhome and The Door).

I do think they had dragonglass weapons this time because Jorah's daggers sure looked like obsidian.

Maybe we define 'destroyed' differently, because:

"Wight" is a catch-all term for the reanimated corpses of humans.
White Walkers have the ability to turn dead and decomposed bodies into wights. Think of the term as a synonym for zombies. Once brought back as a wight, the former humans are intent upon killing under direction from the White Walkers. They can be reanimated immediately after death, as we witnessed in the "Hardhome" episode.

I wouldn't consider that destroyed. They literally got right back up.

Yeah I think we agree but are speaking in different terms.

At Hardhome swords stopped the wights until the Night King raised them again.

The swords stopped them in the short term. Swords don't help against White Walkers at all.
