Why does the obligatory urchin have to have a British accent?

the AT&T commercial that's oh so clever mashing up different TV/movie themes, meanwhile this beta male is walking around looking totally nerdy...and for some reason, when they play the "Seinfeld" theme, he's wearing the puffy shirt. But in no other theme is he dressed like the characters.

it's trying way too hard to be appealing. sadly it probably works.

i can't stand the commercial for the NBA Ticket Marketplace that airs non stop during every show on NBA TV

first the kids nasal voice when he says "aaaaaaannnnd they're never fake"

then the dad "your dads a genius! " as the mom and kid high five....yes Dad is a real genius for paying 10x face value on a ticket reselling site

The odd speech pattern of the people in the ZipRecruiter bugs me.

"[exhale]...hiring is the most challenging part of my job..."
"We started using...ZipRecruiter..."

There is a State Farm office in our building and they have been looking to hire a couple of people. They signed up with ZipRecruiter and have been showing me some of the resumes they have been getting through their service.

Awful. Some have been shockingly awful.

They could have found applicants that bad for free through Craigslist.

Is hiring really that hard? I've never done it so I don't know. But I've seen my company fire enough jerks 2 weeks in who clearly embellished their resume and just hire the next jerk.

It can be. You get a lot of resumes from people who apply to anything and are not even remotely qualified for the job and can also experience what happened with your company. I had a woman cancel an interview 20 minutes before it was supposed to start because she was lost, and when she came in the next day she cried during the interview as she recounted an experience with a former manager who was mean to her...seven years ago.

The State Farm office in our building has had a LOT of people no-show the interview and a fair amount of people in for interviews who wholly unimpressive. The jobs they are hiring for are customer service and sales. You would need some relevant experience for the sales job but not much for customer service and they have been looking for months for both.

(sigh) I would imagine that...the most rewarding part of working in human resources would be...looking over these applications and telling...95 percent of those people that they.aren't.qualified and yOOu don't want to give them money to do a job you know they can't dOO.

Yes. I want to murder that guy. The term "pantywaist" comes to mind whenever I see him.

I'm hiring for a position right now...I've looked through maybe 100 resumes and there might be 10 or so so far that fit. A couple of interviews...

I'm certainly not that experienced with this stuff...but it seems more time consuming than it should be.

Fuck McPick Two commercials.

Did Bob Rohrman become undead and head right for the studio to record several zombie commercials? And, has he eaten poor Susan's brains?

I never want to see another damn GM truck for Xmas/New Year's. Or hear their vapid lines repeated.

Or any more car for Christmas commercials period.

I wouldn't say it makes me want to kill, but I find the one with the American Indians complaining that their children are being adopted by Whitey to be fascinating.

Old lady: I wouldn't say my number two looks like a number two. Is there a number three?

Thanks, old lady. And thanks, pharmaceutical companies for that image.

Is anyone who does a commercial for IMS (Illinois Media School) not an instructor or faculty member in some capacity?

I'm Buford Peckerwood, intern at WSCR and Dean of Students at Illinois Media School. I. AM. IMS.

Every time I hear the commercial for the sleep apnea solution called Inspire that is implanted in your body I think of Frink from a Treehouse of Horror episode where he explains what would be a "Fantastic Voyage."

That Buick commercial where the chick picks up a baby shower cake for a girl, and her friend informs her that their mutual friend is having a boy. They make a U-turn and go back to the bakery to get a cake for a boy. The announcer says, "Buick now has an SUV for that". I pretty sure any make/model of car can actually, you know, be driven to a bakery. Doesn't need to be a Buick, and it certainly doesn't need to be an SUV.

Not very PC of Buick to imply girls can't eat boy cakes.
