I was thoroughly entertained. I don't think it was a total hatchet job on Palin either.

I read the book and was disappointed they only focused on the McCain campaign.

I guess they could've turned it into a mini-series.
Based on your advice, I'm going to read the book.

Ed Harris as McCain was a bizarre choice. It's just Ed Harris with white hair. He didn't attempt to get the speech pattern or accent down like Moore did for Palin.

The screenplay adaptation was written specifically with Samuel L. Jackson in mind. When he backed out, Harris did his best to acclimate to the material.

Caught that on HBO this past weekend. Not bad for a redhead.

They've been running Boogie Nights every couple of days. If it's near the end I usually leave it on for that great scene at the guy's house when they sell him the fake cocaine.

The book was just a hit job on all who dared to stand before Barack Obama, so I have no interest in seeing this.

I assume the movie was like the book.

In the movie, they paint John McCain as a decent person who was very conflicted about how his campaign was being run during the election. I would bet that was very accurate.

I don't think McCain came off very decent at all in the book. He came off like a profane, belligerent boor who scared the shit out of his wife. Maybe having to work with Sarah Palin brought out the worst in him, I dunno, but he was not made to look favorable at all, nor were the Clintons and Edwardses. The Clintons got it worst of all; Heilemann and Halperin all but convicted them of Democratic Party treason.

The worst thing they said about Obama was that it was often apparent that he would rather be spending time with his wife and children. What a fuckin' asshole.

They didn't cover the Clinton's or Edwards' in the movie at all. It only focused on the McCain/Palin campaign. McCain was the guy who wanted to run a honest campaign along with most of his closest advisers. He didn't want to go negative with the Reverend Wright stuff because he felt it was similar to the smears that he faced in the 2000 Republican Primary. Palin didn't want to stay on message and wanted to do her own thing once the spotlight started to shine more and more on her. That was about 90% of what the movie was about.

I have to run a series of errands this weekend, so I'm going to listen to the audiobook.

It's still shocking to me how uninformed Palin was in the movie. I knew she wasn't the brightest, but damn she came off as a total moron.
