I don't have much of a problem with the show (though I think it got a lot less interesting with election season) but I don't really care for what it seems to represent for a lot of its audience, especially self-satisfied media people. It's like every pundit who rushes to Tweet how great that Oliver segment was on infrastructure or how he EVISCERATED Trump doesn't seem to realize that a)nothing was actually accomplished and b)the need for these segments is because said media types are complete failures.

The EVISCERATED stuff is from Buzzfeed, Gawker, and other sites that suck. I don't hold that against the show; he himself even said it was bullshit. I like that he goes deep into topics we don't give much thought to, which is admittedly a failure of our legitimate media but I guess we skin the cat one way or another. Like I alluded to in my bump post, my only problem is the level of internet wokeness that's been slowly creeping into the show's writing over the last year or so. I get all I can handle from the actual internet and more than I can handle from the Julie DiCaro thread; I don't need the "first of all, what the fuck, second, are you okay" shit from my make-dick-jokes-about-the-Icelandic-economy show.

Samantha Bee is terrible.

She was great as a correspondent on The Daily Show, but she is absolutely horrible as the host on her new show on TBS. I don't see it lasting.

Speaking of Daily Show correspondents, the current crop is terrible. They did a big send-off a couple weeks ago for Jessica Williams, and they acted like some legend was leaving the show. She was there for like 3 years, and was not funny. Good riddance.

You still watch the Daily Show?

Not regularly, but I'll flip to it from time to time. I gave Noah a try when he first came on, but he's just bad.

I may have watched parts of 2 shows and I was done. I really wish Stewart and Colbert would have stayed on until after this election.

Speaking of The Daily Show, Jon Stewart did about a 10 minute piece on the Colbert's show last night. Just like old times...

Once again a Michael Ferro production provides fodder for the national satirical media:

I'm with CH on the show. I gave up on it in April as it was just the same Trump jokes every other comedian in the genre is using. What made LWT different was their 20 minute segments diving deep into a subject that was ignored, but very important to society. Those segments are gone and replaced by a rehasing of Trump idiocy where we no longer learn anything new.

I'll check it out, but segments such as that are now the exception whereas they used to be the norm.

How is it trolling?

Alex Jones is such an irrational idiot I think most people on here(besides those who believe what he says) could destroy him.
