Yeah it's been a long wait, but I have been reading that this season is supposed to get pretty close to what BB was. Some good news though, Shades of Blue is back June 17th. Power is back July 1st. Snowfall is back July 17th.

This is good news, really enjoyed that series. Not sure too many here checked it out.

I have a feeling they will only be able to squeeze one more year out of this. Partly because it seems they are getting very close to completing the journey to the beginning of BB, but also because some of the actors (Jonathan Banks in particular) aren't getting any younger and it will be hard to make them look close to what they were in BB (I think most of us give them some leeway on that, but it can't look ridiculous. Plus, they could die...)

Has there ever been a series prequel that tried to do what BCS is doing? I really think there is a lot of excitement building up to see how they tie it all together.

Been rewatching season 3 to get ready for the new season.

Also found this little blub in a story about the Breaking Bad 10 yr reunion

Quote:
“I desperately want to see both of them on Better Call Saul,” he tells EW. “Peter wants it, the writers do, the actors do.”

Gilligan believes that enough time has passed — and so much anticipation has built — that a brush-by may not quite do the trick. “[I]t wouldn’t feel as satisfying if it was just a cameo or an Alfred Hitchcock walkthrough,” he says. “I think we’ve waited long enough. We damn well better have a good reason for them to show up. I just hope we figure it out because I’ve got to hear, ‘Yeah, bitch!’ one more time.”

 :bounce:

Yeah, I was going to brush up on season 3 in anticipation, but that turned into re-bingeing(?) it all over again. I love this show. I hate Chuck, but to die in a fire? I have to be careful around here, since we can't get cable, I have to wait until the next night to watch the episodes online.

Better Call Saul — AMC’s Breaking Bad prequel centered on the transformation of Jimmy McGill into Saul Goodman — has been known to toy with time over its first three seasons. We’ve seen flashbacks to when Jimmy was younger man or even a child, as well as a peek beyond the Breaking Bad years, when he entered an underground form of witness protection and became Gene, a beaten-down manager at a Cinnabon in Omaha.

But now Better Call Saul, which began its story in the year 2002, will venture somewhere it never has before — and somewhere that surely will intrigue/delight fans: into the Breaking Bad era, which was set from 2008 to 2010.

“We have a subplot that very squarely gets into Breaking Bad territory and brings us into the world — or at least points us on a path toward the world of Walter White and the territory of Walter White,” co-creator Vince Gilligan tells EW. “I can’t wait for folks to see that.”

Gilligan & Co. are mum on details, indicating only that the scenes in question involve Saul (Bob Odenkirk); they’re not saying which, if any, other Breaking Bad characters you will see. This is certainly enticing news, though, as it opens up the possibility of seeing the set-up or repercussion of key scenes from Breaking Bad. It also opens up the possibility of seeing more familiar faces who might not have worked as organically in a cameo given the existing flashback or flash-forward scenarios.

Just started all over myself. Stupid as it sounds, I have been starting every day with the same pluck a down and out James McGill has when he gets ready for his public defender cases.

'It's showtime folks'. Give em the grin and maybe a laugh...make the best of the day.

On episode 3 of the rewatch now. God this is a great show. I forgive Dr Ken for criminally underrating it.

I’m glad I started this again. I forgot how fucking good episode 6 is, Mike’s origin story more or less.

Glad I’m doing the rewatch and reading reviews to keep up. I forgot about this:

Mike points out that Nacho's real first name is Ignacio, which is the name a fearful Saul Goodman throws out when he's in danger in his very first “Breaking Bad” appearance. Hmm…

Episode 3 of the new season will have a scene fans will recognize from BB. Sounds like this season will be the goods.

I heard they've just been given another (fifth) season, so it will be interesting to see if they wrap up season 4 to tie it out with the beginning of BB (and leave season 5 for post-BB Saul), or use both seasons as prequel.

Can't wait for Monday!

Cold open of Gene passed out and in the hospital was a great way to come back. Then Jimmy going to see the remnants of Chuck's house. Mike was awesome going through the warehouse and office.

So glad this show is back.

Mike being security consultant was just great writing.

Loved Jimmy's turn at the end and Howard and Kim's reaction to it. Saul's coming.

basically, "howard, you want to wrap the guilt around you? go for it. i'm going on with my life, and he doesn't exist anymore."

the show remains a slow burn, but it's a very thick show. great stuff.

Decent 1st episode. Liked the opening. The Mike stuff was solid. I need more Gus.

honestly I was kind of bored thru a lot of the episode. Def need more from the Mike/Gus/Nacho stuff.

I am sure it will pick up.

I think there will be a lot less filler with the renewal for the 5th (and final?) season.

I don't really think there's been much filler at all, but I don't anticipate them ever changing up their approach to TV making. It's a methodical pace by nature. No shortcuts.

I hope the 5th season isn't the final one. There's still a lot of potential material here.

Eh I disagree about the filler. There were episodes last year, and even in season 2, that were just there for no real reason.

Don't know how much other material you could mine after 26 more episodes.

I want it to go out strong like BB did.

Thought it may have just been an easter egg.

Not sure who it would be if he's supposed to matter.
