agreed with the positive reviews. this movie was very well done. the theme of creating your own legacy while ultimately respecting where you come from and turning a 'mistake' into a new legend was handled wonderfully by coogler. best scenes are between rocky and donnie but there are 2 other outstanding scenes: the running scene with the bikers, and rocky visiting the cemetery. it's moving and sad to see rocky's legend slipping away, dying off. stallone and jordan deserve oscar nominations and coogler definitely deserves director/writer.

i would've liked the 'villain fighter' to have a bit more personality, and maybe even more on the apollo/rocky history because they had a dynamic friendship that established the relationship already between him and donny. other than that, very solid film. i hope the academy doesn't forget about it.

:D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D

The running scene with the bikers was the only scene I didn't like. Too silly for me.

Well said though.

I thought that scene was ok but could have been better.

I loved the comedy in it. Usuallly you get like 3 or 4 chuckles from Paulie in a Rocky movie but this one had several funny moments

I used to do those one handed, I didnt wanna say anything, but....

The "I have to take a shit" scene was great because it was so unexpected. Some guy in theater was laughing so hard I thought he was gonna die.

i expect a little cheese in any "rocky" movie so the biker scene fit that well. by that time i was so invested i didn't care if it was cheesy. i thought it was awesome.

can't believe it's been about 10 years since "balboa". doesn't seem that long ago. but stallone is about meredith's age when he was in the first "rocky" as micky. crazy.

Yea, that was a crazy scene. Ill bet some boxer had that really happen and told that story to someone making the movie.

Spoilers below. Highlight to read

Oh, see I think it was undercheesy. It was a little too quick. If you look at the run in 2 its like a 3 minute scene.

But yeah, it was cool. You knew they were setting something up when Roc mentioned the wheelies early on.

I also liked the stats on screen rather than trying to get that info out by strained dialogue "You cant spar with him, that's Danny "stuntman" Wheeler the #2 pound for pound fighter according to Ring Magazine!!"

BTW, gotta believe Ward/Wheeler is gonna be Adonis opponent in the next sequel. They have a "that was my shot" and "the man who knocked out Adonis in a sparring session" all set up.

I mean, if you're still reading this thread and havent seen the movie, I think that's misguided.

And we were kinda slowly working in details about the plot, but My apologies.

I didnt really give much away though. Dont feel like you know too much. You dont.

But Ill edit and you should unquote

Did not really read or see much before going today to see it, absolutely loved it. Hawg Jr. and I had a great day today and seeing this today was party of it. In traditional rankings:

:pig: :pig: :pig: out of :pig: :pig: :pig: :pig: at least.

Saw it this past weekend and thought it was really good. I agree with many of the accolades in previous posts.

Stallone injects some funny stuff in the picture and it works well.

Rocky hand-writes some boxing drills for Adonis on a piece of paper. Adonis snaps a pic of the paper with his phone. He hands the paper back to Rocky and walks away. Rocky tells him that he forgot the paper and Adonis laughs replying that he's got it - it's in the cloud. Rocky looks dumbfounded as he looks upward to the sky.

The entire theater laughed. Well done, Sly.

3-1/2 Meatballs out of Four.

My son and I went last night. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Sly did a fine job and overall not a bad job of moving things to the younger generation.

Makes me realize how young I am compared to Rocky at least.

I remember being 10 years old seeing the original Rocky and now at age 50 enjoying the latest addition.

Other than Star Wars, is there any other motion picture franchise that has been such a fixture in anybody else's lives?

The Rocky series has to be it for me.

I liked all of the original Star Wars but have not seen the ones made more recently. I guess I would tend to lean more to Rocky also, have kind of grown up with it.

The fact that Ozzie made it to 67 and that dude died today at 48 is pretty damn amazing.

I fully expected to see Keith Richards in the Night of the Museum, I was disappointed.

Finally saw it today. Great movie. Stallone is excellent in this. I loved how the Rocky theme kept building thought the movie. Thought the fight scenes were really good, especially that first one with the boxer from Mickey's gym.

Saw it today and loved it. It is crazy how Stallone is the same age as the guy who played Mickey was in the first Rocky film.

Watch a Tearful Sylvester Stallone Win First-Ever Golden Globe
'Rocky' actor's last nomination was in 1976 for franchise's first film

BY BRITTANY SPANOS January 10, 2016

Sylvester Stallone accepts his first Golden Globe for his stirring portrayal of Rocky Balboa in 'Creed,' at the 73rd annual awards show.
Sylvester Stallone took home the Golden Globe for his performance in the latest installment of the Rocky franchise Creed. Stallone had last been nominated in 1976 for the inaugural film in the series as the film's screenwriter.

SIDEBAR
Leonardo Dicaprio; Golden Globes Golden Globes 2016: The Complete Winners List »
As Stallone walked to the stage to accept his award, he received a standing ovation from the crowd, including an enthusiastic response from Creed's star Michael B. Jordan. "I'm going to try to not get emotional," the veteran actor, director and writer said as he began his speech. "I am the sum total of everyone I've ever met, and I'm so lucky I've absorbed some of it"

Stallone went on to note that the last time he had been recognized by this award was at the 1977 ceremony for the film, where he lost for Best Actor to Network's Peter Finch. He went on thank family, friends and all involved with the film before giving a special shout out to Rocky's producers Irwin Winkler and Robert Chartoff, noting that Chartoff had mortgaged his house and "took a shot on a mumbling actor and gave me the shot of a lifetime."

The winner ended his already touching speech on a particularly emotional note, thanking the character he has played in seven films over 40 years. "Most of all, I wanna thank my imaginary friend Rocky Balboa for being the best friend I ever had."
