If he just said "Yeah, just like you didn't want to get injured" it might have been received better.

Does that fucking moron understand that Waddle a) played football b) was often hurt himself c) because of a and b would be the last person in Chicago radio to make light of injury in addition to being the least confrontational host on the air ?

No. I'm pretty sure he doesn't know that Waddle was a football player. Hicks isn't from Chicago. He's 20 years younger than Waddle. Waddle wasn't much of a good player to know who he is if you're not from Chicago. So, no.

This is his 4th year in Chicago, and he has been on with W&S weekly for the entire season. He knows.

This is the first time I have seen Waddle and Silvy trending on twitter, so good for them for the publciity Hicks gave them.

This is the dumbest thing to be outraged about in the history of outrage. There is absolutly nothing Hicks should have been mad about.

To those who didnt listen here is why Hicks hung up:
Paraphrasing, but you get the point Talking about injuries, bad luck, etc."Hey Aikeem, I am sure you meant for those fingers of yours to get caught in the mask. Sure that was your plan."

Everyone has heard this from family memebers, freinds, etc. and the fact that he hung up makes Brandon Marshall seem stable.

We are all dumber for Hicks.

He got mad when Haugh brought up Khalil Mack and basically pulled the same stunt. This was last year.

hicks is either hyper sensitive or too dumb to catch the sarcasm in what waddle said (or both). I listened to the segment and it was clearly a harmless joke. he will likely complain when the WMVP checks stop coming in too.

Hicks has been on this show every week this season. We are in week...12? 13? At some point, it had to have come up that Waddle was a WR for the Bears in the 90s. It doesn't matter if how good he was. Waddle played in the league, knows what its like to practice and go thru training camp, and he played for Ditka.

It’ll be interesting to hear Jurko’s take on this today

Jurko will give some vanilla reaction that is safe for the air. But if you saw him at an appearance or a remote, he would give you his true feelings with no sugar coating.

The overreaction to this has been silly. I tuned in to Kap a few times today and this is what they were talking about every time. People calling and telling Waddle yesterday and today to tell him how much he means to the city of Chicago and how wonderful he is at his job is nauseating.

A guy on the Bears got mad at him during an interview, but judging by this overwroght reaction you'd think Waddle had been fired and lost his home and his family.

I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often with morning zoo and afternoon chuckle-hut sports radio. Hicks overreacted, but Waddle wouldn't stop trying to be funny. I don't understand why every interview has to be a gigglefest.

Yeah it was odd like I said. I never listen to W&S but in that clip Waddle clearly had no idea how to read Hicks and his tone at the time. It was pretty amateurish.

I agree. This thing is weird.

1. Waddle is not a "Chicago treasure". He was a below average WR that had 9 career touchdowns. I mean people say he was tough only because he was white and slow. We've had several black WRs that were just as tough and better. And then he's made a career out of being a vanilla radio host. Good for him. Good to be white.

2. I guess you guys have convinced me to change my mind about Hicks. For such a big tough guy on the field, he is a pussy off the field. And Joe O was pointing out that Hicks was always looking to pick fights when he was on with Mully and Haugh last year. So he's kind of weird and a jack ass.

We all have awkward moments in life with conversations. People take things the wrong way always.

It's kind of cool to hear those awkward moments on the radio. This was one of them. So it's a win for ESPN 1000. People like this shit. I did. So the station got attention.

In the end, it doesn't fucking matter.
