That’s usually what happens! We go in, say hi, and then find a table or find another bar if we don’t like the scene.

So I would sit there for an hour or so twice a week in that parking lot and that bar did not entice me and I have a long history of bars enticing me.

I always wanted to grab some Chuck's but I never once set foot in Q Bar. I couldn't really figure out what it was...billiards...slots....a crazy parking lot patio? It confounded me.

Not for any particular reason but it was usually about 5pm on a weekday and nobody was in the place which made it seem sketchy. The bakery next door isn't bad.

I lived about three miles away for over 15 years, never once stepped into the place.

B&B did a remote once from Home Run Pizza on 75th. I had to stop in because I could have walked there. It was so pathetic. Including the pizza. After that I only went to Buffone & OB post game remotes about once a year.

That's a bad day for me. Not the best location for me but if I didn't have shit going on, I'd make the drive.

My band played at Q Bar in Glendale Heights a few year ago. Big place and a wide spectrum, but I think the Pool tables were a big part of it. I would imagine it's the same deal as Darien.

Probably. Too much space and all those crappy plastic darts they had to use.

The bar makes $2 on a 15 minute dart game.

It's not about the money on the game; it's about the money spent on alcohol by uber competitive drunk people.

The bar I go to started hosting a dart league. Serious dart players are an interesting bunch. I could never play in one of those leagues because apparently you have to fist bump everyone after every time you throw.

I might actually be persuaded to go.

Probably not a good idea to piss off a guy who spent 15 years boxing. That's just my opinion, though.

I meant to include the world "watching" before "boxing."

I don’t like that it’s snowing but it’s supposed to stop.

But I ain’t driving out there if no one’s going. It’s just far enough to be too far if no one shows.

Sounds like a place I spent a lot of time at near Grayslake called Cue N You Billiards. They didn't card hard and I looked significantly older than 19 or 20 at the time. A lot of pool tables and some snooker tables. Back then you could smoke cigarettes inside. When I went away to school in Memphis I kept up the billiards playing but added gambling to it. At 20 I was stupid and cocky when drunk and pretty good at shooting pool. I'd be sinking 8 ball shots with my eye balls closed or staring down my opponent while striking the cue ball. Really dumb.

In my 20s, I was getting pretty good at bar pool.

I was playing one night against some guys for $20 a game or so. I'd been working on my shot where I could curve the ball around and they thought they had buried me in the corner with the 8 on the far side.

With a full table run, you could really curve it so I did curve it around 3 balls and knocked the 8 in the opposite corner. I could probably hit that shot 2 out of 10 times at best.

I really thought those guys were going to kick my ass right there on the spot.
