I actually thought they sounded pretty good today, which is odd because I've never been a fan of either. I'm not one who's going to dismiss them out hand after three shows. Maybe their pairing will bring out the good in them. In Rosie's defense, while I've always despised his smarmy, too hip for the room act, he was saddled with the human Ambien, Dave Baum. They still need to work on talking over each other, and as Stu-Gotz pointed out the "pimp, ho" lingo has to go. Regardless, they're miles ahead of the North abortion.

I only heard the Pods interview and a few additional minutes around that. And what I heard was brutal, though as you say, still better than North.

What was good about the show from your perspective?

All I hear are two guys with predictable opinions and a surprising lack of knowledge about sports in general.

TM, I'm with you. These guys bored me yet again. I told all of you they'd have good guests, I don't know why we're all shocked and giving praise for that. Salisbury will give you that. Surprisingly Rosenbloom continues to annoy the hell out of me. The whole "pimp hand steady" shit and "we're the new black" is so f'ing stupid and annoying beyond belief. The only time I have enjoyed their talk is during 10 @ 10. Neither one actually listens or tried to understand where the other is coming from on a different opinion they might have. Its really annoying. They got me until Friday and if it still sucks, I'm off to the Score. I'll give them another chance in a month and see if they've cleaned it up a bit. Right now, absolute train wreck which surprises me. I was open to Salisbury to talking baseball as I would agree with Mac on how thats a dumb criticism of an ex-football player radio guy. However, neither one of these have anything insightful or interesting or different to say so far.....not good.

It lasted from 2-5 or so today and was a good time. Lots of regulars showed up, including BigFan, good dolphin, Coach Crap, Nas, Beardown, hawkeye, Punky Brewski, Ozmodiar and of course, Rock.

The best part was Beardown interrogating Rock like he was Jack Bauer trying to break a terrorism suspect. He was more relentless than a freakin' Doberman. Good stuff.

TM, where is the thread or link to the chat? I had seen it before the Turkish Tool sabotaged stuff, but haven't since. I never saw a time/date either-I would have liked to be there.

Just off the top of my head...

Rock admitted to scoring only once with a young lady at a remote
The emails Mikey reads on the air are real
No one is sleeping with Jen-Jen at the station
Rock & LoHo are "best buddies" even though Rock hasn't spoken to him for about a month.
Jen-Jens job consists of "booking guests, doing crossword puzzles, and getting breakfast for the morning crew"
Anne's contract has been renewed at least once
Everyone has an equal voice as to show content
Mike & (s)Murf... no problems
Mike & B&B... no problems
Mike & Mitch.... no problems
Zaidman is a "cool guy"
Rock does want to get an on air gig eventually leading to a regular radio DJ job "spinning records & taking calls"

There's more but at least that's a start

Let me add the following:

JenJen has been asked out by a ballplayer, but she doesn't want one (and Rock promised Jen that he wouldn't say which one).
JenJen and Ryan Dempster are JUST FRIENDS, and they don't even hug each other when they hang out.
Rock gets to the station first and does all the sound stuff for Mike, Annie and Fred.
Rock would like to do some appearances but they never ask him to. He just does what he is told.
Rock is buying at least a round of drinks for any board members that show up at the Mully, Hanley and Murph remote next Thursday at the Ivy.
His favorite hosts on the station are B&B

Sounds good. Rock's always seemed like a nice enough guy, and I'll always be grateful for him turning me on to Bloodsimple. I still think the show sucks, but I dig his passion. I do believe he's the hardest working person on that show. If his robber baron of a boss put in half the effort...well who knows.

He also said who his least favorite host is, but I won't say it if he doesn't want it 'out there'

His least favorite guest was Alan Keyes.
Others at the station think he's "nuts" for acknowledging us.

all in all it was a lot of fun...until my reliable AT&T DSL pooped out (still better than Comcast).

Plus, Bigfan got a charge reversed on his credit card.

Thanks Rock.

I disagree 100%
I had DSL and hated it. But it's probably related to service area and the amount of loops and fiber in the ground.

Probably, my cable seemed to go down about 3,4 times a month. The only time I have trouble with DSL is after several days of rain or snow. I am assuming it has something to do with the humidity. Cooler? I know you have dial up, but I'm sure you can enlighten us.

Have had DSL for a couple years now, love it, haven't had problems (knock on wood). My friends used to crap out when the phone rang, it was weird, having the answering machine plugged into the phone line was messing up his connection

Actually I've just been dragged, kicking & screaming, into the new millenium. About 2 weeks ago I got SBC Global ADSL. :-)

As to the reliability of cable vs DSL. Although it has a faster throughput rate (Max 30 mbps- avg 1-6 mbps) cable is inherently less stable because the connection is shared, from a single cable modem, between X number of users. That means the speed increases & decreases depending on how many people are logged into that particular modem.

DSL is a direct 1 on 1 connection from a single modem to a single computer so while not necessarily as fast (Max 10 mbps- avg .5-3 mbps) the speed is more uniform.

It completely depends on your area and how close you are to the local swtich though. I have Cable now after starting with DSL. For $40 per month I'm downloading at between 2000k and 3000k/sec on average. Back when I had DSL I couldn't even talk on my IP phone when on the internet. I'm getting way more than I pay for but can't complain. Yes, you have guaranteed speeds with DSL but you're also capped. In my case I'm getting a great deal.

True & I don't have any experience with cable other than what others have told me. But as far as my ADSL goes I'm getting fairly consistent speeds of 1.7mbps for $19.95/mo.

After starting out with a 9600 baud modem in 1993, though, this ADSL is like going from a skateboard with a broken wheel to a Ferrari :-)

WTF man? I'd bet 10 @ 10 was a Spaceball idea, not a C&S one. So who gives a shit whether or not Screamy and Screamy use it? There are bigger fish to fry champ.

Well, after 3 shows of Sean and Steve, I found myself punching the button to the Score at 10:15 Friday morning. I tried them out, listened with an open mind, but by Friday I'd had enough. I'm sure I'll listen more, but needed to hear 2 normal guys on Friday.

My gripes with this new show are that it sounds too much like my 2 least favorite shows in Chicago sports talk history, the Huge Show and Murphapalooza.

It's like the Huge Show in that it's two middle aged single horn dogs who spend more effort in trying to get laid than put on a good sports talk show. Guys, I don't care where you're going for dinner. If you want to troll for some poon, great, but I don't want to hear about it. Go sell crazy and horny somewhere else, we're all stocked up here. The Chicago Scene interview would have been much more suited to C&S than these 2 Viagra popping skirt chasing wannabe playboys. Another comparison to Huge and Lou is that I always thought each guy thought the other was full of shit, but agreed just to agree. I think Sean and Steve each secretly think the other's a dope, but are making nice so they can keep cashing checks.

The usage of the same hackneyed quips and drops made me think I had Murph on. If Rosey tells me to keep my pimp hand steady one more time, I will punch the button (wait, I already did). Is the Dodgeball "vomit" drop the only one that Jeff Meller had time to produce for this show? It seemed like it was the only one they used all week.

On the bright side, the little bit of C&S I listened during their nightitme shift was better than the daytime. I think the C&S show will thrive at night, and Sean Salisbury will need a new partner by the time the leaves start changing color.

I agree with another post that said Space had his mind made up back in January when the auditions happened. That's not smart business, and his quick trigger finger on C&S after their ratings jump should show the ascerbic Schwartzy to show some patience next time. What has Schwartz done in his time @ AM1000? Added the mediocre Jason Buhlenke, the past his prime Jimmy Piersall, JHood, Salisbury, and Rosenbloom. Wow, what a roster. And, he's alienated 2 of his young guys, Silvy and Carmen. Anyone still have Len Wiener's #?

As for Mac, I'm surprised at the shots thrown his direction for not defending C&S and subsequently supporting S&S. I don't ever remember Mac showing a lot of support for the Bachelors. Also, there are times when one should be a good soldier and do what the boss asks, especially if it's good for the whole station. I'll wager that should S&S not perform well, ol' Mackie Fish will be putting them on the grill next to the Allen Bros. meats.

Carmen said the other night 10@10 was Silvy's idea. But it's not important, it's not like 10@10 made the Silvy and Carmen show, and it certainly won't make Salisbury and Rosembloom either.

While I liked it with Silvy and Carmen, I think Steve and Sean need it more, otherwise, they might stay on the same boring topic all morning.

I think I'm with many of the other people here, 10:15 comes and I'll probably switch to 670 (funny how we purposely wait a little after 10a, just to avoid hearing North -- shows how much we all love him).

Yowch. This comparison is dead-eye accurate. Hearing Rosenbloom interrupt Salisbury's questions to Scotty Pods to bring up how hot his wife was, how Sean had been hitting on her, etc, was just goddawful painful radio.

In the same episode, I liked how Rosenbloom brought in his 'buddy' Mark Giangreco, who made a joke about Rosie's wife keeping him from having fun with his new radio partner. Turns out Rosie's chum doesn't know that Rosenbloom has all but finalized his divorce. I love this phony shit.

But I've listened in spots here and there. I'll give it a little time. I hope they improve or change radically. I wouldn't plan on that happening.

Actually it was Silvy's idea and I wasn't alone in thinking that was a little weird.
