Silvy and Waddle are on from 9 to noon this week (in addition to their usual shift).

Why are they doing this?

I caught Jurko and Finfer the other day. Pretty good, Jurko was talking about his football days and seemed more present than usual.

They'll be national soon.

Sadly.

Good for them. Finally some intelligent sports talk during those hours. I don't know why anyone would listen to that hateful, ignorant duo on WSCR

Why do you say that? I like them. Sometimes they can get off topic and it can get a bit boring but sometimes they can get off topic and they are hysterical! So it balances out. That locker room talk especially getting older, with the back and forth of jabs, cracks me up!! Plus being from Chicago and Waddle being a former Bear... anyway I wish them luck!! Just don't leave the afternoon spot!

Jessica Christianson They are too negative for my tastes.

Nice upgrade!! Also good to see them overtaking Boorish and Buttstain.

In addition to their local ESPN1000 afternoon show, Waddle & Silvy are filling in this week on ESPN radio nationally on the 9am-12pm timeslot which has been vacant since Colin Cowherd departed. I don't think a permanent replacement has been announced.

I always enjoyed Silvy and Waddle at 9 am and way back with Silvy and Carmen. They should move Silvy and Waddle back to this slot and try something crazy for 2-6, like Jurko and Mike North or something. Shake things up.

"Waddle & Silvy" are reportedly now under consideration for the 4-7 PM (ET) time slot on ESPN Radio nationally which has opened since Dan LeBatard's show is moving to Cowherd's former time slot.

That would be great for them. However, IDK how interested the national audience would be w/ 10 mos. of Bears talk.

I'll bet ESPN 1000 would still air Silvy and Waddle here if they did go national. But it would fail. Especially during the Bears season. Silvy and Waddle will obviously have to talk Cowboys, Giants and Patriots to appease the national audience.

Kap would probably go 12-4 if their start time is 4pm.

4 ET, 3 CT

If it's a significant pay raise for Silvy and Waddle, then obviously they have to take it.

But is this job more prestigious than the one they have? Local afternoon drive time in the 3rd biggest market. Yeah, I know it's national. But I would assume they're not heard in any of the top 25 markets. Cuz I'm sure those slots are all filled by local shows like we have here.

So I'm guessing they're pretty much only heard in backwater towns. Plus Satellite radio. But I would still think people listen to local radio over national if they do have satellite radio.

Let's say ESPN 1000 does air their national show.

B&B beat them now. Numbers will drop more when Bernstein is talking Bears, rape and concussions while they're talking about Tom Brady, Yankees and Ohio State.

Do you really want to be hearing analysis of this 4-12 team for the next 4 months? NFL season is the worst time of the year for Chicago sports radio.

Ok. They'll be bad this year. But people still want local. It's still the Bears. How about if the Cubs are going deep in the playoffs?

Eventually the Bears might be good again. I'm just saying Silvy and Waddle doing national won't fly here. But I'm sure they'll air it. Cuz of their built up fan base. But the fanbase won't be for long if it's not local talk.

I don't live and die Bears like many of you. And for those of you that are straight football fans, a national show could over hot topics better than a local show would.

I prefer local shows, but I'm still listening to a national Silvy and Waddle over Boers and Bernstein.

ESPN National Coverage = Sawx & Yanks, Pats, LeBron James

They can't get TWad to do a National Show. He can barely keep up w/ the 5 teams he needs to cover here.

From Friday: Sources tell @SInow that @bomani_jones will be getting the 4-7 p.m. ET spot on ESPN Radio. Look for the official news soon.
