It's that time of the year again. With only a few days before Americans everywhere go to the polls to cast their ballots, a certain ESPN original will be talking with BOTH President Barack Obama & Mitt Romney the night before Election Day.

Yes, the one & only Chris Berman(!) will have BOTH Presidential Candidates at halftime of the network's "Monday Night Football" broadcast between the Philadelphia Eagles & New Orleans Saints. Although the interviews are scheduled to be pre-taped in the afternoon hours before the game, might it be ESPN's only bite of the political apple before Election Day?

According to ESPN Vice President for News Vince Doria, the network is trying to land BOTH Presidential Candidates to guest on another ESPN show either Monday or Tuesday morning, the day of the Election itself. That show is ESPN Radio's "Mike & Mike in the Morning", which is simulcast on ESPN2 Monday-Friday 5-9A. Now comes the problem...

USA Today's Michael Hiestand reports that the Romney camp would prefer to have running mate Paul Ryan appear on the Mike Greenberg/Mike Golic ESPN Radio morning show instead of Romney himself. While Doria admits ESPN is "at the mercy of their campaigns", he added that there wouldn't be restrictions in regards to questions asked, regardless if it's "Mike & Mike" or when Berman has the candidates on "MNF's" halftime show this Monday night.

This isn't new ground for Berman. Back in 2008, he had Obama & then GOP challenger Arizona Senator John McCain in a similar halftime interview on "MNF". Having BOTH candidates appear would put them front & center in front of 12 to 13 million viewers.
