Late last month, ESPNNewYork.com's Rob Parker caused quite a controversy when he referred to Redskins' star rookie QB Robert Griffin III as a "cornball brother" during a debate he had with Stephen A. Smith & host Cari Champion on ESPN2's "First Take". Initially, Rob was suspended 30 days by ESPN management. Now, there's a follow-up to the story.

This morning, ESPN bosses turned Rob's suspension into his termination. Although ESPN bosses claim in a written statement that Parker's contract simply expired at the end of last year, ProFootballTalk.com thinks that Parker's undoing may have been the following interview in which he was under the impression that the reaction to his comments were taken out of context. This is what Parker revealed before his 30 day suspension was supposed to expire, and what ESPN bosses felt was his undoing:

Uh, yeah, I read your post.

I was asking if "cornball brother" is a known term in "the community" or if it's something rob parker pulled out of his ass; that is the question here!

Rob Parker said it and pulled it out of his ass. I haven't heard the term anywhere else.

I wondered the same thing having never heard the term. Regardless, this country is still not ready for a real discussion about race. As such, it makes me wonder why any sane person would bring up the subject on a mainstream station. It never ends well. #jimmythegreek

Jimmy "The Greek" Snyder got fired by CBS Sports following remarks he made in 1988. His remarks that got him fired can be found here:

This wasn't a discussion on race. It was a dick saying RGIII wasn't black enough because he likes white chicks and may vote republican.

Free Speech Shitty Phone

I think that phone gets too much negative coverage around here.

But free speech doesnt apply here. Freedom of speech doesnt equal freedom of consequences from said speech.

But in turn, wouldn't the speech then no longer be free?
