If Jeopardy were an ABC/Disney property instead of Sony and CBS, the network would be pushing Mike Greenberg as the new host. Hell, they may buy it ffrom Sony just to give it to Greenberg. They'll make a global icon of him yet!

Dan and the crew seemed to imply on yesterday's show that they will be continuing after January 4 as just a podcast. Hope so.

ESPN might as well just go full New York and simulcast Michael Kay's show nationally at this point, at least Don La Greca's rants are entertaining which is more than you can say about Greenberg. If any of his post Mike & Mike shows were actually successful imagine how hard they'd push him, probably have him anchor World News Tonight or some shit.

Yeah the one silver lining of the early pandemic was the show figured out how to do everything from their homes.

Granted, I thought it was terrible due to connection and chemistry issues, but at least they know how to do it.

Idk the terms of their contracts, like any non competes, but I imagine they wouldn’t be free agents for too long.

I would have guessed that she's shorter.

Interesting :)

They're saying on the show that Stugotz is still under contract to ESPN for two years but that's probably just a bit.

The early pandemic shows were so bad they were great-Greg predictably being utterly clueless about using Zoom, Stugotz's dog barking his head off at random, Dan's total frustration, etc.

It looks like they're going to burn the entire second segment with the long-form Stat of the Day intro.

ETA: And as totally expected, Greg Cote ending the show by talking through the final hard network out.

Are we heading towards a world where sports media is akin to Fox News and MSNBC?

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't think the "progressive" audience is as much into sports as the Clay Travis group.

I wonder if the tag line will be "Like ESPN but think they talk about sports too much? Come to the LeBatard Sports Network!"

Dan needs to leave the house more.

He sounds like he’s done nothing all year except hide in his mansion watching MSNBC.

The crying every day is getting a little much for me.

And I’m a sensitive guy.

I haven't listened in the last week. I don't need the political talk right before bed, which is when I usually listen to the podcast.

I will let them get through the inauguration and try again.

If politics and sports mixed well, Gizmodo/Deadspin wouldn't have seen its valuation fall by 90% between 2 sales.

People want to have fun and be entertained. It's why Barstool is kicking ass.

No, I just don't happen to have a two hour slot earlier in the day to listen. I don't mind when Dan gets political, I just have no need to listen to a mostly political show. If he and Skipper plan a more woke existence than a Steve and Garry for the 2020s Marching Band to Nowhere, I won't listen as much. Just like I've never listened to Clay Travis. Or like I have maybe listened to two hours of Steve Dahl solo once he sobered up.

Aside from Mina Kimes and Bomani Jones, they really should've kept Dan and fired the rest of the talking heads he was grooming. And then fired the entire ESPN hiring groups.

He needs more opportunities to squander.

I listened to most of his nearly two hour interview of Skipper. Interesting but not really explaining what they will actually do other than it will not necessarily be sports-centric. If anything, I think they may do more long form stuff in interview/documentary style.

After that, I went back and followed a reddit link to Dan's ESPN Magazine article on Vladimir Guerrero (Sr.). I could see Dan deciding to cut back on the daily show and wanting to do more of that type of work but selling it to a streaming service.
