Has anyone seen this guys interviews? Even with the weird over the top gimmick (The Schmo) he asks pretty good questions to the athletes. And because of his gimmick and high energy the athletes seem more into the questions being asked.

That is all part of the gimmick...
I think he does a great job in sticking out in such a competitive industry. If he was just another guy in a suit and tie by the name of David Schmulenson asking any random question it would be forgettable in about 30 seconds and no one would know who he was.
