He spent over 20 minutes on Wednesday morning trying to take apart the NFL Network. I understand that angst of those who might have to go to a bar or a buddy's house to watch Thursday's game.
But, he goes even further and tries to pooh-pooh the network, almost insinuating that it's existence is unnecessary. He tries to paint the idea that the network is useful for just providing eight NFL games a season -- and he said only two of them are good games this year.
Sorry, Jason, I happen to like the network provides a valuable service. I like "NFL Replay" because I don't have the funds to pay for NFL Sunday Ticket. This way I can still enjoy some of the other games, usually almost all of the best games of the week. I also enjoy the other pieces of those programs, post-game interview snippets, stat tidbits and play breakdowns.
I might watch more of the channel than some, so I did disagreed with his point.
Also, this is coming from a guy WHO WORKS FOR ESPN, a little subjective in my book. Smith also said, "If I want news on the NFL, I'll go to ESPN." Why? I believe the NFL Network provides equal or better analysis. Get rid of Brian Baldinger, but the rest of the crew is pretty competent. Two words -- Chris Berman.
I just thought it was pretty disingenuous of Smith, an employee of a rival sports network, to take these type of shots at a competitor.

The NFL Network was public access bad at times last night.
