Madden will be skipping this Sundays game, to avoid a 3rd straight cross country trip. What a fucking joke. Thats part of the job, fat ass.

It's time for him to go away and retire.

My sources say that it was offered as a gesture of kindness from management, not as a request from Madden. Collinsworth will take his place this Sunday and is a more than adequate color commentator substitute.

It's common knowledge that John Madden has a fear of flying, but the "Sunday Night Football" schedule the last 3 weeks had the Hall of Fame coach commuting from Jacksonville 2 weeks ago to last Sunday in San Diego and now to Tampa Bay for this Sunday's game between the Seattle Seahawks & Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It has caught up with Madden, who isn't getting any younger, fans. While John, Al Michaels & Andrea Kremer will call NBC Sports' coverage of Super Bowl XLIII February 1st in the same stadium where the Bucs/Seahawks' game takes place this Sunday, I believe the crowded "Football Night in America" studio will be a little less crowded. Although it hasn't been announced yet, I think Cris Collinsworth will vacate the New York studios of "Football Night" to work the "SNF" game with Al & Andrea on the sidelines in John's absence, his first in 476 straight assignments.
