Although it remains to be seen if they'll remain with Turner/TNT Sports and/or ESPN/ABC, we know one place that will continue to broadcast NASCAR for quite sometime to come.

According to Sports Business Daily, "NASCAR on FOX" will continue for another 8 years, $2.4 billion. It's considered a sizable increase from the current $1.76 billion FOX Sports pays to broadcast NASCAR now. That means you'll continue to hear Darrell Waltrip yell "BOOGITY, BOOGITY, BOOGITY! LET'S GO RACIN' BOYS!" for 13 Sprint Cup races annually, starting with the one & only Daytona 500 every year until 2022.

It also means that even though there are rumblings that FOX Sports will soon change the name of its motorsports channel SPEED to FOX Sports One, the entire Camping World Truck Series will also continue to race on the network(s), along with streaming rights to all races on a FOX Sports-affiliated Web site. The new "NASCAR on FOX" deal could be announced as soon as today.

As for TNT & ESPN/ABC, both of those outlets have 2 more years remaining on their current NASCAR deals. While those negotiations will wait until next summer, both TNT & ESPN/ABC have 2 years remaining on their current contracts. TNT & ESPN/ABC currently pay $2.74 billion overall and are currently in the sixth year of an 8-year deal to carry NASCAR. Their respective deals expire after the 2014 season. It's unclear at this time if NASCAR will continue to split their TV contract three ways or they'll reduce it to only two broadcast partners.

Although the price of NASCAR TV rights is increasing with news of their extension with FOX Sports, ratings in recent years have actually decreased. FOX is paying more to continue broadcasting NASCAR, despite a 14 to 15% drop in ratings since the current deal started in 2007. When NASCAR started their current deal in '07, FOX delivered a 5.6 Nielsen rating & 9.3 million homes tuned in. Today, those numbers have dropped to an average 4.8 Nielsen rating & 7.9 million homes. It's unclear if either TNT and/or ESPN/ABC will pay more, or if former NASCAR partners NBC Sports and/or CBS Sports might want a price of the NASCAR pie when TNT & ESPN/ABC's deals expire.
