I might convert to my brother's team... Arizona Cardinal.

I did like Neil Lomax, Vai Sikahema and Stump Mitchell as a yute.

This should be a thread by itself.

Reasons:

1. Tom Brady Deflate Scandal
2. Ray Rice Gate
3. CTE and related deaths.
4. Overboard Peyton Manning Worship
5. Unimpactful 1st Round Drafts (e.g. Clowney)
6. Bad Chicago Bears and Miami Football
7. Cam Newton
8. Favre's Retirement

Feel free to add.

Number and severity of Injuries
Players retiring early
The parity gets old after awhile (especially when the Bears continue to be awful)

There's like 5 guys out of 1500 that retired early

Not sure there's a lot of parity currently either.

There is no parity, at least in the AFC...

Of the last 20 years, 15 of the AFC champs have been the Steelers, Pats or Broncos.

12 of the last 13 years have had a QB named P. Manning, Brady or Roethlisberger starting for the AFC.

Just after I posted, I thought... you know what, fuck that.

Bears or GTFO.

It would just be transferring my frustration with the NFL to another team. Plus, the state of Arizona can go fuck itself.

I used to have a Topps Stump Mitchell card. I always thought that was a cool nickname until I got older and had a better understanding of the implications.

Same with Dennis "Pinky" Gentry.

Not really a low point in my fandom, but the Dave McGinnis fiasco has to be one of the most memorable low points for the franchise.

The McGinnis fiasco, the change-with-continuity press conference, and the whole back end of the 2014 season are the low points of the post-'85 Bears. This season could end up bumping the press conference, though.

The growing length of games make them more and more difficult to watch, both on TV but especially in person.

We all thought firing Mike Mc Caskey would usher in a modern era for the Bears, but they decided Philips was the man and gave him a job for life.

This has been a good timeframe in which to have children as activities keep me from watching and becoming fully invested.

I suppose I could keep that train rolling for a while after I marry Vegas Mommy.

Young Mike McCaskey just said "Woof! Woof! Woof!" at the club and the guffaws were uproarious.

A league where wide receivers rule over running backs because free safeties can't spear them into next week is not particularly fun to watch for me. And I've tried to care about fantasy football before and just can't do it. And overly slick NFL broadcasting productions don't help.

Give me Wilber Marshall almost killing Joe Ferguson, with Tim Ryan and Johnny Morris on the call.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vuj_NF7gteQ

When the Bears can do that again, I'll start paying attention again.

That team was so awesome but it's so depressing to think about then and now. I can't even believe that's the Bears.

Me toof. Probably my favorite 1st round choice when he was drafted. I remember being at a drive through ATM in Evanston and not thinking they would draft him, and being thrilled when they did.

Didn't turn out to be as good as Fencik or Duerson, but I never second guessed the pick.

The fact that Doug Plank doesn't have CTE is compelling evidence that it's a made up affliction.
