Bears should target one of the top free agent WR'a as well as draft one with their 1st or 2nd round pick. They also need help on the O-line and depending how things fall they may need to use their 1st pick there -tho I doubt the best OT in the draft will be there at #8.

They also need to at least look into trading back to add some picks due to Paces past blundering (trading away picks he most likely didn't need to).

Watkins - upgrade, I'd take him

Landry - no

Robinson - coming off an ACL

Not exactly mark them in as a #1 in permanent marker. Pick a guy that's healthy and young and stop trying to pick a gem from someone else's rejects.

As mentioned earlier, there are upgrades in FA but it would be nice to find an elite player. Are those guys elite players?

Landry certainly is, but I get why someone wouldn’t want him with the off the field stuff.

Robinson was until his injury. I can’t put 2016 on him when he led the NFL in targets that were uncatchable that year. He’s never relied on speed either so I wouldn’t think the acl tear would be any type of dealbreaker. He’s probably looking for a deal similar to Alshon’s one year prove it deal in philly. Inexcusable not to offer a player of his caliber a contract like that.

Watkins numbers aren’t great but he’s supposedly instrumental in guys like Woods and Cupp having the success they are this year. He’s also a perfect complement to Meredith.

I think all three would be significant upgrades and justify not having to take a WR in the first round.

I'd be happy with Robinson or Watkins. Probably more Robinson.

But, I wouldn't feel comfortable saying "we got our guy and we can just take a flyer on a guy on day 2 or 3" and we're done.

They should probably do both. But, let's see how things shake out. Everything changes a hundred times from now until after the combine.

Orlando Brown #78 OT for Oklahoma is massive / 6-foot-8, 345 pounds / NFL projected RT but probably a round 1/2 guy that the Bears shouldn't be using a pick on.

Also -

Georgia -
#35 CB Aaron Davis
#6 WR Javon Wims

Wims looked better than I expected.

And the only person who benefitted from Pace not bothering to put together a pro-level WR corps was Pace. They don't know any more about (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky than they did the day they drafted him & he got an extension out of it. Only the Bears.

I was shooting for lesser known and/or Bears need guys.

They aren’t drafting Smith.

If they keep Fangio, they might go defense first. Treviathan, Floyd, and Smith could give the Bears a version of the Fangio's LB corps in SF

Biggest needs are guard and tackle on O line, Long is finished, doubtful he's healthy again. Tight end, wide receiver and pass rush defensive end -OLB.

I know you guys love Floyd but he's too skinny to last 16 weeks, he looks like Kevin White in stature.

It's supposed to be a good draft for RB with Barkley from PSU topping the list. I think he is no less than an equal in talent to Elliott and Gurley at the time they were drafted.

I love Penny from SDST.

Both of those Georgia RB will be in this draft. I think Chubb would be duplicative but Michel could be the guy

Here is cbs rankings. I don't entirely agree. My guy in that group is Kerryon Johnson from Auburn

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospectrankings/2018/RB

I prefer the Great Blue North rankings

I think that would work but I have a bias against UT players being soft after their college experience

UT players have been soft during their college days for about 5 years now.

Connor Williams is not a 1st round pick. He's graded as a 2nd rounder. I don't know who this clown Matt Miller is.

This draft really sucks IMO..even with the crappy QB's at the top pushing other talent down.

Matt Miller- regular guest on B&G for mostly NFL draft talk. Seems pretty knowledgeable; I would take Nelson instead.

I think the first seven, in no particular order include:

Rosen
Darnold
Allen
Barkley
Fitzpatrick
Chubb

That leaves the Bears in the position to draft one of the ND lineman if they so choose. Eight seems like a decent spot if that is the primary need. I would not be surprised if Arden Key was added to the seven and the Bears could draft either of those ND OL.

After the success of Kamara, Hunt, and McCaffrey I expect this to be the year of the reach RB. I expect another RB to go ahead of the Bears pick.

There’s also the O-lineman from Texas and Oklahoma. They could trade down and still get a very good player at a position of need.

I will trust Heistand on the evaluation of his linemen.

I'm not in love with the idea of the Bears taking an O-lineman with this pick. Especially interior linemen. If they have the option to take a legit pass rusher or very good WR with the pick they should. They have to solve the issue of their QB having no one to throw to, and signing a guy in FA won't be enough to do that. You can draft good guards in later rounds while the value on other positions slips.

I think it would be a mistake to draft a guard here. Even if he's good.
